Migraine headaches typically affect one side of the head. They can last anywhere from a few hours to a few days. Some people have them weekly, others have fewer than one a year. Migraines usually begin sometime between the teen years and the age of 40, and can be classified as either ""classic'' or ""common.''

At the onset of a migraine, the blood vessels in your head first shrink, then swell, causing pain. Tension, bright lights, loud noises, strong smells, weather changes, fatigue, missed meals, and emotional upset all may trigger a migraine. The headaches may also be brought on by many common foods and beverages, including lunch meat, hot dogs, alcohol, beans, coffee or tea, cheese, chocolate, nuts, pickles, raisins, and canned soup. Artificial sweeteners can trigger a migraine. Many women get the headaches before or during their monthly period.

You may know you are going to have a migraine before the headache starts. Warning signs include nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to noise, light, or smells. Classic migraines begin with warning signs such as flashing lights or colors. You may feel as though you are looking through a tunnel. One side of your body may feel prickly, hot, or weak. These warning signs last about 15 to 30 minutes and are followed by pain in your head. Common migraines do not have the same warning signs. However, you may feel tired, depressed, restless, or talkative for 2 or 3 days before the headache starts.

There are a number of prescription medications for migraine. They tend to work better if you take the medicine as soon as your headache starts. Discuss these and other methods of preventing migraines with your doctor.

If your doctor prescribed medicine to treat or prevent your headaches, take it exactly as directed.
At the first sign of a headache:
Apply cold compresses or ice packs to your head, or splash cold water on your face.
Lie down in a quiet, dark room for several hours. You may sleep, meditate, or listen to music. Do not read. Rest during the attack.
To help prevent migraines:
Keep a record of what you ate before each headache. Avoid foods, such as chocolate, cheese, and red wine, that seem to cause an attack. Don't skip or delay meals.
Try to keep your life as free of stress as possible. Learn to pace yourself. Yoga, biofeedback, or relaxation therapy may be helpful.
If the headaches first appeared after you began taking birth control pills, you may want to talk to your doctor about changing to a different method of birth control.
Call Your Doctor If...
You have any problems that may be related to the medicine you are taking.
Seek Care Immediately If...
You have a headache that gets worse or lasts more than 24 hours despite treatment.
You develop a high temperature.
You faint or develop weakness, numbness, double vision, difficulty with speech, or neck pain or stiffness.

Chewy Flour Tortillas

These tortillas have real body and taste; they are perfect for gorditas, fajitas and eating out of hand.

2 C All-purpose flour
1-½ t Baking powder
1 t Salt
2 t Vegetable oil
¾ C Lukewarm milk (2% is fine)
Stir together the flour and baking powder in a large mixing bowl. Add the salt and vegetable oil to the lukewarm milk and whisk briefly to incorporate. Gradually add the milk to the flour, and work the mixture into a dough. It will be sticky.

Turn the dough out onto a surface dusted with flour and knead vigorously for about 2 minutes (fold and press, fold and press). The kneading will take care of the stickiness. Return the dough to the bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rest for 15 minutes. (This dough will not rise, but it needs a rest.)

Divide your dough into 8 balls of equal size, cover them, and let them rest again for about 20 minutes. Avoid letting them touch, if you don't want them to stick together.
Dust your work surface with flour. Working one at a time, remove each piece of dough and pat it into a 5-inch circle. With a rolling pin, roll out the tortilla, working from the center out, until you have a 7- or 8-inch tortilla a little less than ¼-inch thick. Transfer the tortilla to a hot, dry skillet or griddle. It will begin to blister. Let it cook for 30 seconds, turn it, and let the other side cook for 30 seconds. Remove the tortilla, place it in a napkin-lined basket and cover with aluminum foil. Repeat for the remaining tortillas.

Although flour tortillas, like corn tortillas, are best if eaten right after they are made, these tortillas will freeze well. Wrap them tightly in plastic, and they will keep, frozen, for several weeks. To serve tortillas that have been frozen, let them thaw and come to room temperature, then wrap them in aluminum foil and heat them in a warm oven. Microwaving tends to toughen them.

Here are some tips as to technique:

Do not use bread flour. You want flour with a low gluten content.
You don't want to over-flour your work surface, but you don't want your rolled-out tortilla sticking to it either. I found that the dough adhered less to an unvarnished wood surface (like an old cutting board) than any other surface I tried.
A flat dough scraper, known in baking parlance as a "bench knife", is very efficient in removing the rolled-out tortilla from the work surface.
When rolling out tortillas, dust your rolling pin with flour, and don't be afraid to apply pressure. Flour tortilla dough is pretty sturdy; but not to the point of rerolling. You don't want tough tortillas.
Once you get a rhythm going, you can roll out a tortilla, put it on to cook and, while it cooks, roll out your next tortilla. Seems like an arduous process but, with this method, I could produce 8 tortillas in about 10 action-packed minutes. Be sure to rewrap your fresh tortillas each time you add another to the stack.

If you like, you can substitute one cup of whole wheat flour for one cup of the all-purpose flour.

My personal preference is for plain tortillas but, if desired, you can spice up this recipe by adding

A tablespoon of chopped fresh herbs (like oregano or rosemary)
A teaspoon or so of dried herbs
Freshly ground black pepper
A tablespoon of minced jalapeños
A little garlic powder (or substitute garlic salt for the salt)
If you choose to experiment with seasonings, mix dry spices with the flour mixture and fresh or "wet" seasonings with the milk.

The eternal question, what was first? the egg or the chicken, doesn't apply here.

Fuji S3 - de Dinu Lazar la: 23/09/2005 08:30:18
(la: O conversatie cu DINU LAZAR, fotograf)
Scrie un amic despre Fuji S3:

I've recently purchased a Fuji S3 for my own business (mainly social now) after having used the S2 for a good two years already. The last 5-6 years whilst I was employed I've used the like's of an Imacon 4040, Leaf Volare, Leaf DCB, Canon 1Ds and 10D on a daily basis, so I have some experience for comparison. The S3 will not resolve as much detail as a D2X, I think most test's have proved its about the equivelant of an 8-9meg chip. The S2 produced fantastic files from RAW if converted using Fuji's own software, the trade off was that if u overexposed your files by more than half stop the software would not recover anymore white detail.

The S3 does not seem to have increased in resolution from the S2, however, I have noticed a depth to the images that was just not there with the S2, for example, if you were to shoot an identical shot with each camera of say fields with trees and varying shades of green, the S3 could differentiate between subtle shades of the same colour even in shaded areas, the S2 would have just produce a clump of mush. I believe this ability to differentiate subtle colour difference's may give the illusion of higher resolution.

If u shoot people, the film simulation mode 1 produces beautiful skin colour, the likes of which I found very difficult to achieve with any other digi camera.

I use it mainly for weddings and portraits in jpeg mode and the wider dynamic range is a godsend, since using the S3 I have found that whites are nice and clean and they rarely if ever bleach, colour out of the camera is fantastic, and I have less tweaking to do afterwards. One thing I have learnt using so many digi cams is that resolution is'nt everything, the quality of the lens and the quality from the chip are paramount, I used to shoot A3 size adverts from a 4mb DCB chip and have had 25ft posters from a 6mb Leaf Volare, which would probably still outshine many higher resolution cameras available today.

On a negative note, the shutter release is a little spongy (depends if that's something u can live with), shooting RAW in wide dynamic range is a slow process, after about 3 frames the camera will lock up, however there is a buffer upgrade to double the internal memory but I don't think it's going to turn it into a papparazzi camera. All the other negative's that go with having a lesser camera body than the D2x also apply.

If u really need resolution and speed, then plump for the D2X or equivelant Canon, be prepared for a RAW workflow to get the best from the camera. If u want the best jpeg camera then get the S3. Each system has it's merits, my decision to plump for the S3 was financially led, the D2x is'nt expensive in itself, but I had to consider that my photography tends to generate hundreds of files from each shoot and working in RAW would mean buying new computers and the extra storage facilities to go with it, possibly tripling the cost of the purchase of a D2X.

Just one more thing, the S3 uses standard AA batteries, available absolutely anywhere in the world.

(la: Arde Parisul?)
PARIS, Monday, Nov. 7 - Rioters fired shotguns at the police in a working-class suburb of Paris on Sunday, wounding 10 officers as the country's fast-spreading urban unrest escalated dangerously. Just hours earlier, President Jacques Chirac called an emergency meeting of top security officials and promised increased police pressure to confront the violence.

"The republic is completely determined to be stronger than those who want to sow violence or fear," Mr. Chirac said at a news conference in the courtyard of Élysée Palace after meeting with his internal security council. "The last word must be from the law."

Young men passed a burning motorcycle in Argenteuil, outside Paris, Sunday night. The recent violence has been centered in towns near Paris.

A firefighter examined the wreckage of a textile warehouse Sunday in Aubervilliers, a Paris suburb. The building was set ablaze on Friday.

A burning car was extinguished in Argenteuil, west of Paris, as riots in France flared for another night on Sunday.

President Jacques Chirac of France, with Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin, said restoring order was "the highest priority."

But the violence, which has become one of the most serious challenges to governmental authority here in nearly 40 years, showed no sign of abating. The Associated Press reported on Monday that French police said that a man beaten during riots has died, becoming the first fatality since unrest started. and Sunday was the first day that police officers had been wounded by gunfire in the unrest. More than 3,300 vehicles have been destroyed, along with dozens of public buildings and private businesses, since the violence began.

"This is just the beginning," said Moussa Diallo, 22, a tall, unemployed French-African man in Clichy-sous-Bois, the working-class Parisian suburb where the violence started Oct. 27. "It's not going to end until there are two policemen dead."

He was referring to the two teenage boys, one of Mauritanian origin and the other of Tunisian origin, whose accidental deaths while hiding from the police touched off the unrest, reflecting longstanding anger among many immigrant families here over joblessness and discrimination. Mr. Diallo did not say whether he had taken part in the vandalism.

On Saturday night alone, the tally in the rioting reached a peak of 1,300 vehicles burned, stretching into the heart of Paris, where 35 vehicles were destroyed, and touching a dozen other cities across the country.

Fires were burning in several places on Sunday night and hundreds of youths were reported to have clashed with the police in Grigny, a southern suburb of Paris where the shooting took place. On Saturday night, a car was rammed into the front of a McDonald's restaurant in the town.

"We have 10 policemen that were hit by gunfire in Grigny, and two of them are in the hospital," Patrick Hamon, a national police spokesman, said Monday morning.

He said one of the officers hospitalized had been hit in the neck, the other in the leg, but added that neither wound was considered life-threatening.

Rampaging youths have attacked the police and property in cities as far away as Toulouse and Marseille and in the resort towns of Cannes and Nice in the south, the industrial city of Lille in the north and Strasbourg to the east.

In Évreux, 60 miles west of Paris, shops, businesses, a post office and two schools were destroyed, along with at least 50 vehicles, in Saturday night's most concentrated attacks. Five police officers and three firefighters were injured in clashes with young rioters, a national police spokesman said.

Despite help from thousands of reinforcements, the police appeared powerless to stop the mayhem. As they apply pressure in one area, the attacks slip away to another.

On Sunday, a gaping hole exposed a charred wooden staircase of a smoke-blackened building in the historic Marais district of Paris, where a car was set ablaze the previous night. Florent Besnard, 24, said he and a friend had just turned into the quiet Rue Dupuis when they were passed by two running youths. Within seconds, a car farther up the street was engulfed in flames, its windows popping and tires exploding as the fire spread to the building and surrounding vehicles.

"I think it's going to continue," said Mr. Besnard, who is unemployed.

The attack angered people in the neighborhood, which includes the old Jewish quarter and is still a center of Jewish life in the city. "We escaped from Romania with nothing and came here and worked our fingers to the bone and never asked for anything, never complained," said Liliane Zump, a woman in her 70's, shaking with fury on the street outside the scarred building.

While the arson is more common than in the past, it has become a feature of life in the working-class suburbs, peopled primarily by North African and West African immigrants and their French-born children. Unemployment in the neighborhoods is double and sometimes triple the 10 percent national average, while incomes are about 40 percent lower.

While everyone seems to agree that the latest violence was touched off by the deaths of the teenagers last week, the unrest no longer has much to do with the incident.

"It was a good excuse, but it's fun to set cars on fire," said Mohamed Hammouti, a 15-year-old boy in Clichy-sous-Bois, sitting Sunday outside the gutted remnants of a gymnasium near his home. Like many people interviewed, he denied having participated in the violence.

Most people said they sensed that the escalation of the past few days had changed the rules of the game: besides the number of attacks, the level of destruction has grown sharply, with substantial businesses and public buildings going down in flames. Besides the gunfire on Sunday, residents of some high-rise apartment blocks have been throwing steel boccie balls and improvised explosives at national riot police officers patrolling below.

In the Parisian suburb of Aubervilliers early Sunday, with smoke hanging in the air and a helicopter humming overhead, a helmeted police officer in a flak jacket carried a soft drink bottle gingerly away from where it had landed near him and his colleagues moments before. The bottle, half-filled with a clear liquid and nails, had failed to explode.

Teenagers in neighboring Clichy-sous-Bois said they had seen young men preparing similar devices with acid and aluminum foil. "They make a huge bang," said Sofiane Belkalem, 13.

The police discovered what they described as a firebomb factory in a building in Évry, south of Paris, in which about 150 bombs were being constructed, a third of them ready to use. Six minors were arrested.

Many politicians have warned that the unrest may be coalescing into an organized movement, citing Internet chatter that is urging other poor neighborhoods across France to join in. But no one has emerged to take the lead like Daniel Cohn-Bendit, known as Danny the Red, did during the violent student protests that rocked the French capital in 1968.

Though a majority of the youths committing the acts are Muslim, and of African or North African origin, the mayhem has yet to take on any ideological or religious overtones. Youths in the neighborhoods say second-generation Portuguese immigrants and even some children of native French have taken part.

In an effort to stop the attacks and distance them from Islam, France's most influential Islamic group issued a religious edict, or fatwa, condemning the violence. "It is formally forbidden for any Muslim seeking divine grace and satisfaction to participate in any action that blindly hits private or public property or could constitute an attack on someone's life," the fatwa said, citing the Koran and the teachings of Muhammad.

Young people in the poor neighborhoods incubating the violence have consistently complained that police harassment is mainly to blame. "If you're treated like a dog, you react like a dog," said Mr. Diallo of Clichy-sous-Bois, whose parents came to France from Mali decades ago.

The youths have singled out the French interior minister, Nicolas Sarkozy, complaining about his zero-tolerance anticrime drive and dismissive talk. (He famously called troublemakers in the poor neighborhoods dregs, using a French slur that offended many people.)

But Mr. Sarkozy has not wavered, and after suffering initial isolation within the government, with at least one minister openly criticizing him, the government has closed ranks around him. Mr. Chirac, who is under political and popular pressure to stop the violence, said Sunday that those responsible would face arrest and trial, echoing earlier vows by Mr. Sarkozy. More than 500 people have been arrested, some as young as 13.

The government response is as much a test between Mr. Sarkozy and Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin, both of whom want to succeed Mr. Chirac as president, as it is a test between the government and disaffected youths.

Mr. Villepin, a former foreign minister, has focused on a more diplomatic approach, consulting widely with community leaders and young second-generation immigrants to come up with a promised "action plan" that he said would address frustrations in the underprivileged neighborhoods. He has released no details of the plan.

If the damage escalates and sympathy for the rioters begins to fray, Mr. Sarkozy could well emerge the politically stronger of the two.

Overview: Adobe has been made aware that the file and folder permissions for Photoshop CS2, Illustrator CS2, and Adobe Help Center can permit non-privileged users to change key program files. This condition presents a risk for shared, multi-user systems. Adobe is providing update utilities which correct these access permission issues and prevent manipulation of the program files by non-privileged users. Adobe recommends that customers using CS2 products on shared systems apply these updates.

Effect: If exploited, this vulnerability could allow a hostile user to replace these program files with malicious or harmful code that could read, write, or destroy sensitive data if subsequently run by a privileged user.

Asa incit si-a compus o figura serioasa si demna si i-a primit in audienta.

Ea s-a intors catre sot caruia i-a soptit: “Atit costa sa ridici o universitate? Atunci de ce nu deschidem una noua?”

Sotul aproba din cap. Pe fata directorului se citea confuzie si tulburare. Dl. Si Dna. Leland Stanford s-au ridicat si au plecat. Au calatorit spre Palo Alto, California unde au deschis universitatea care le poarta numele – UNIV. STANFORD. Ridicata in memoria fiului de care Harvardului nu i-a pasat.

Dear All,

I wanted to send you a holiday greeting. Then I realized that, starting
2007 after Romania's integration to EU, new rules and regulations apply. In
plus we will be part of the European community of people.

Because it is so difficult in today's world to know exactly what to say
without offending someone, I met with my attorney, and on his advice I
wish to say the following:

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for
an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress,
non-addictive, gender neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday,
practiced with the most enjoyable traditions of religious persuasion or
secular practices of your choice with respect for the religious/secular
persuasions and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice
religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally
successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition
of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2007, but not without
due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose
contributions to society have helped make Europe great (not to imply that
EU is necessarily greater than any other country/union) and without regard
to the race, creed, colour, age, physical ability, religious faith or
sexual preference.

By accepting this greeting, you are accepting these terms:

This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely
transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no
promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for
her/himself or others and is void where prohibited by law, and is revocable
at the sole discretion of the wisher. This wish is warranted to perform as
expected within the usual application of good tidings for a period of one
year or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever
comes first, and warranty is limited to replacement of this wish or
issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher.

Disclaimer: No trees were harmed in the sending of this message; however, a
significant number of electrons were slightly inconvenienced in order to
present you this great Christmas Tree!

Apoi, despre incadrarea in tema a pozelor participante.

Ahh ok - so you have fun with the song names? It's not all serious?

Ohh absolutely - they mean absolutely nothing. I mean if you're writing instrumental music there is no lyric - so how do you name an instrumental song? All I do is either an inside joke, or the song conjures up an image or a cool word or couple of words - and I just try to work it in.

Did the same sort of rules apply when you were writing stuff for planet x and your other solo material? Was it also this 'inner joke'?

Absolutely - a lot of it is I'm making a mockery - 'the sons of anu' even though I was fascinated by the uhh.the literature, if you look at the subtitles of the sons of anu, like 'for the glory of enki' 'of the ashes of ur' it's like I'm making a mockery of progressive rock in general, because a lot of progressive bands take the lyrics seriously. In the lyrics, it always comes out very pompous (laughs) I'm just mocking it.

And again, has this got anything to do with the fact that Yngwie played on that song, because he's characterized for having these 'fantastic' songs with wizards and that sort of stuff.

No.well, so is Al Di Meola, he's always had the pompous titles, so I'm just kind of mocking them in a lovingly way.

Oh ok - ok I can appreciate that.

Yeah, it's all out of fun
