Toamna ofera subiecte minunate fotografilor americani; astfel citim cu interes:

Tips on shooting fall foliage.
Dozens of Web sites updated daily with local conditions.
Includes the U.S. from California to Maine and all of Canada.
Scenic hikes & drives.
Even the reason why leaves change color.

Toate acestea, la adresa
http://www.vividlight.com/articles/fall_foliage.htm

philosophy or movement that has as its aim the development of individual freedom. Because the concepts of liberty or freedom change in different historical periods the specific programs of liberalism also change. The final aim of liberalism, however, remains fixed, as does its characteristic belief not only in essential human goodness but also in human rationality. Liberalism assumes that people, having a rational intellect, have the ability to recognize problems and solve them and thus can achieve systematic improvement in the human condition. Often opposed to liberalism is the doctrine of conservatism , which, simply stated, supports the maintenance of the status quo. Liberalism, which seeks what it considers to be improvement or progress, necessarily desires to change the existing order.

I tried to tell you . . .
Democrats repel voters, who put faith in freedom

Published on: 11/04/04
America's faith in freedom has been reaffirmed. With the re-election of President Bush, America recommitted itself once again to expanding freedom and promoting liberty. Only the 1864 re-election of Abraham Lincoln, the 1944 re-election of Franklin Roosevelt and the 1980 election of Ronald Reagan rival this victory as milestones in the preservation of our security by the advancement of freedom.

This election validated not just freedom, but also the faith our Founding Fathers placed in average folks to navigate the course of this great nation. By weighing the greatest issues at the gravest times and choosing our path, ordinary people have again accomplished extraordinary things. With courage and caution, rather than fear and timidity, the voters chose a path to ensure others would enjoy the same freedom to set their own path.

This election outcome should have been implausible, if not impossible. With a litany of complaints — bad economy, bad deficit, bad foreign war, bad gas prices — amplified by a national media that discarded any pretense of neutrality, a national opposition party should have won this election.

But the Democratic Party is no longer a national party. As difficult as the challenges are — both real and fabricated — Democrats offered no solution that was either believable or acceptable to vast regions of America. Tax increases to grow the economy are not a solution that is believable or acceptable. Democratic promises of fiscal responsibility are unbelievable in the face of massive new spending promises. A foreign policy based on the strength of "allies" such as France is unacceptable. A strong national defense policy is just not believable coming from a candidate who built a career as an anti-war veteran, an anti-military candidate and an anti-action senator.

Democratic Party policies haven't sold in large sections of America in decades, and the only success of Democrats in presidential elections for 40 years was when they pitched themselves as pro-growth, low-tax, strong-defense, fiscally responsible, values-oriented candidates. Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton hummed the tune but never really sang the song, and that's why Democrat prospects have gone south in the South. In 1980, the South had 20 Democrats and just six Republicans in the Senate. As recently as 1994, the Senate had 17 Democrats and nine Republicans from the South.

A decade later, the number had reversed to 17 Republicans and nine Democrats. With this election, it is 22 Republicans and just four Democrats from the South. When will national Democrats sober up and admit that that dog won't hunt? Secular socialism, heavy taxes, big spending, weak defense, limitless lawsuits and heavy regulation — that pack of beagles hasn't caught a rabbit in the South or Midwest in years. The most recent failed nominee for president stands as proof that the national Democratic Party will continue to dwindle. The South has gone from just one-fourth of the Electoral College in 1960 to almost a third today. To put this in perspective, that gain is equal to all the electoral votes in Ohio. Yet there was not a single Southern state where John Kerry had any real chance. Would anyone like to place bets on the electoral strength of the South by 2012? Maybe they should tax stupidity. When you write off centrist and conservative policies that reflect the will of people in the South and Midwest, you write off the South and Midwest. Democrats have never learned from the second or third or fifth kick of a mule. They continue to change only the makeup on, rather than makeup of, the Democrat Party.

And so we have a realignment election. For the first time, in an "us vs. them" election and in the toughest of situations, Republicans have been re-elected to the White House, the Senate and the House of Representatives. Confronting an opposition that can win a divided electorate in the worst of times and that has a growing electoral base, the national Democratic Party has a choice: continue down this path toward irrelevance or reverse course. As the last Truman Democrat, I hope my party makes the right choice but know I will not be allowed to be part of it. Such is the price you pay when you love your nation more than your party.

And so while I retire with little hope for the near-term viability of the party I've spent my life building, I retire with a quiet satisfaction that after witnessing the struggle of democracy over communism and fascism, the fear I once held that America might not rise to meet this new challenge of terrorism has vanished like a fog under the radiance of a new dawn. While the threat is still real, the shadow looming across a promising future is gone.

And the credit for that goes to one man. Like the last lion of England, Winston Churchill, George W. Bush has stood alone and risked all to give the world a new, clearer path to the advancement of freedom.

Abraham Lincoln, in his second annual message to Congress, stated: "In giving freedom to the slave, we assure freedom for the free — honorable alike in what we give and what we preserve. We shall nobly save or meanly lose the last, best hope of earth."

George Bush has injected into a region of enslavement an incurable dose of freedom, and thus nobly saved that "last, best hope of earth" — free men.

Instructions for a wife then and now - de MMM la: 16/11/2004 04:16:47
(la: Femeia)
The following is from a 1950's Home Economics textbook intended for
the High School girls, teaching how to prepare for married life.

1. Have dinner ready: Plan ahead, even the night before, to have a
delicious meal - on time. This is a way of letting him know that you
have been thinking about him, and are concerned about his needs. Most
men are hungry when they come home and the prospects of a good meal
are part of the warm welcome needed.

2. Prepare yourself: Take 15 minutes to rest so you will be refreshed
when he arrives. Touch up your make-up, put a ribbon in your hair and
be fresh looking. He has just been with a lot of work-weary people. Be
a little gay and a little more interesting. His boring day may need a
lift.

3. Clear away the clutter. Make one last trip through the main part of
the house just before your husband arrives, gathering up school books,
toys, paper, etc. Then run a dust cloth over the tables. Your husband
will feel he has reached a haven of rest and order, and it will give
you a lift too.

4. Prepare the children: Take a few minutes to wash the children's
hands and faces if they are small, comb their hair, and if necessary,
change their clothes. They are little treasures and he would like to
see them playing the part.

5. Minimize the noise: At the time of his arrival, eliminate all noise
of washer, dryer, dishwasher, or vacuum. Try to encourage the children
to be quiet. Be happy to see him. Greet him with a warm smile and be
glad to see him.

6. Some DON'TS: Don't greet him with problems or complaints. Don't
complain if he's late for dinner. Count this as minor compared with
what he might have gone through that day.

7. Make him comfortable: Have him lean back in a comfortable chair or
suggest he lie down in the bedroom. Have a cool or warm drink ready
for him. Arrange his pillow and offer to take off his shoes. Speak in
a low, soft, soothing and pleasant voice. Allow him to relax and
unwind.

8. Listen to him: You may have a dozen things to tell him, but the
moment of his arrival is not the time. Let him talk first.

9. Make the evening his: Never complain if he does not take you out to
dinner or to other places of entertainment; instead try to understand
his world of strain and pressure and his need to be home and relax.

10. The Goal: Try to make your home a place of peace and order where
your husband can relax.

Now The updated version for the 2000s woman.

1. Have dinner ready: Make reservations ahead of time. If your day
becomes too hectic just leave him a voice mail message regarding where
you'd like to eat and at what time. This lets him know that your day
has been crappy and gives him an opportunity to change your mood.

2. Prepare yourself: A quick stop at the "LANCOME" counter on your way
home will do wonders for your outlook and will keep you from becoming
irritated every time he belches at the table. (Don't forget to use his
credit card!)

3. Clear away the clutter: Call the housekeeper and let her know
you'll need her for an extra day this week. Tell her that any
miscellaneous items left on the floor by the children can be placed in
the Goodwill box in the garage.

4. Prepare the children: Drop them off at grandma's!

5. Minimize the noise: When he arrives at home remind him that the
washer and garbage disposal are still not working properly and the
noise is driving you crazy (but do this in a nice way and greet him
with a warm smile...this way he might fix it faster).

6. Some DON'TS: Don't greet him with problems and complaints. Let him
speak first, and then your complaints will get more attention and
remain fresh in his mind throughout dinner. Don't complain if he's
late for dinner. Simply remind him that the last one home does the
cooking and the cleanup.

7. Make him comfortable: Remind him where he can find a warm fuzzy
blanket if he's cold. This will show you really care.

8. Listen to him: But don't ever let him get the last word.

9. Make the evening his: a chance to get the washer and garbage
disposal fixed.

10. The Goal: To try to keep things amicable without reminding him
that you make more money than he does.

Copyright-ul prin lume; la o adica in Venezuela, care este - de Dinu Lazar la: 12/12/2004 17:07:39
(la: O conversatie cu DINU LAZAR, fotograf)
Primim de la un fotograf din Venezuela:

THis is just to inform you that the "Revolution" that is currently set in place in this country, led by a monkey and his chimps, is just showing off it's real nature, and most of what we thought about their real intentions is becoming a solid reality.

Please excuse the intro, but go on, as this is not a political statement.

Just a few days ago, and amendment to local Intellectual Property Law, by far one of the most modern copyright and intellectual property protection laws in the world, is about to suffer a massive and abusive modification, breaking out with all the previous international agreements signed by this country, including the Bern and Paris Conventions, The Uruguay Round and other older agreements.

Basically , a group of revolutionary artists, has introduced to the revolutionary congress a proposal for revolutionary change in IP laws to force creators to register with SAPI, our Copyright Office here in Caracas, as a formal requisite to enjoy the benefits of IP protection.
THIS MEANS THAT ANYTHNG THAT IS NOT FORMALLY REGISTERED IN THAT OFFICE, WILL BE CONSIDERED OF PUBLIC DOMAIN, AND ANYONE WILL BE ABLE TO COPY, DUPLICATE AND EVENTUALLY SELL THOSE ITEMS.

I am not joking fellows. THis is happening today here, and is totally and formally intended to legalise pirating of Music CD's and tapes,VHs; and DVD's and VCD's for films, and eventually , photography in all areas.
It is well known to us that one of the most important leaders of the revolution is the owner of the largest company dedicated to piracy of such discs (software, music and movies) and is making hundreds of millions in earnings from this business, and now he will have the legal rights to do so in the open, in a proper manner, all in the name of the revolution, to help "the people" against the empire, and all the crap you may think of.

After the last fraudulent elections a few weeks ago, the revolution has taken control of all state and goverment instances and offices and there is simply nothing to do at any legal and decent level against this and many past and coming abuses.
Anyone trying to set a legal defense against this abuses is considered and enemy of the revolution and they make sure to push you into doom by means I rather not discuss here.

So consider yourself warned., Those of you, Photographers and Agencies that are currently setting plans to cut deals with clients in this country, specially with the goverment, get to know how is it gonna be, or at least, make sure you get in writing a better deal for you products and services , although things in writing, like contracts, are just disposable paper and ink for the revolution. There are other modifications to the law that would not deal with our field, but are equally abusive in other areas ( pretended ownership of satellite/broadcast transmissions, etc).

I made my best not to turn this into a political thing, just the bare minumum as to set you on "warning mode", so please if anyone wants to comment on the political side, just keep it off this forum.

Talking about protection for RF files, well... just forget it. Not even RM (or RP or L for this
matter) will have it.

We are becoming the Planet of the Apes.

O data un filozof stoic, Marcus Aurelius si imparat al Romei a scris:< Things change, persons die, but the univers remains. Men are corrupt and nations pass away, but the reson in the univers is eternal, and in one's life reason may remain incorruptible.> Constinta ne spune cind gresim, cind am facut bine sau rau!
Stralucirea in adevar e tocmai unicitatea lui!

In dictionarul limbii Romane cuvintul ELITA are cu totul alt sens!

Acu las rindurile mele in mana ta!

“K”.

pt cei care se vaita cit de rau le e si miorlaie a nemultumire (indiferent daca au emigrat sau au ramas in romania) le spun ca orice situatie are 3 solutii:
1. put up with the situation
2. if you cannot put up with it, then change the situation
3. if oyu cannot change it, then leave the situation.

What is bullying?
Bullying is when someone keeps doing or saying things to have power over another person.
Some of the ways they bully other people are by: calling them names, saying or writing nasty things about them, leaving them out of activities, not talking to them, threatening them, making them feel uncomfortable or scared, taking or damaging their things, hitting or kicking them, or making them do things they don't want to do.
Have any of these things happened to you? Have you done any of these things to someone else? Really, bullying is wrong behaviour which makes the person being bullied feel afraid or uncomfortable.

Why do some people bully?
There are a lot of reasons why some people bully.
They may see it as a way of being popular, or making themselves look tough and in charge.
Some bullies do it to get attention or things, or to make other people afraid of them. Others might be jealous of the person they are bullying. They may be being bullied themselves.
Some bullies may not even understand how wrong their behaviour is and how it makes the person being bullied feel.

What is Workplace Bullying?
How do you know if you're being bullied? Bullying differs from harassment and assault in that the latter can result from a single incident or small number of incidents - which everybody recognises as harassment or assault - whereas bullying tends to be an accumulation of many small incidents over a long period of time. Each incident tends to be trivial, and on its own and out of context does not constitute an offence or grounds for disciplinary or grievance action. Workplace bullying includes:
· constant nit-picking, fault-finding and criticism of a trivial nature - the triviality, regularity and frequency betray bullying; often there is a grain of truth (but only a grain) in the criticism to fool you into believing the criticism has validity, which it does not; often, the criticism is based on distortion, misrepresentation or fabrication
· simultaneous with the criticism, a constant refusal to acknowledge you and your contributions and achievements or to recognise your existence and value
· constant attempts to undermine you and your position, status, worth, value and potential
· where you are in a group (eg at work), being singled out and treated differently; for instance, everyone else can get away with murder but the moment you put a foot wrong - however trivial - action is taken against you
· being isolated and separated from colleagues, excluded from what's going on, marginalised, overruled, ignored, sidelined, frozen out, sent to Coventry
· being belittled, demeaned and patronised, especially in front of others
· being humiliated, shouted at and threatened, often in front of others
· being overloaded with work, or having all your work taken away and replaced with either menial tasks (filing, photocopying, minute taking) or with no work at all
· finding that your work - and the credit for it - is stolen and plagiarised
· having your responsibility increased but your authority taken away
· having annual leave, sickness leave, and - especially - compassionate leave refused
· being denied training necessary for you to fulfil your duties
· having unrealistic goals set, which change as you approach them
· ditto deadlines which are changed at short notice - or no notice - and without you being informed until it's too late
· being subjected to disciplinary procedures with verbal or written warnings imposed for trivial or fabricated reasons and without proper investigation
· being coerced into leaving through no fault of your own, constructive dismissal, early or ill-health retirement, etc

(Abstinence only programmes do not change sexual behaviour, Texas study shows.Tanne JH.BMJ, feb 2005; Abstinence, abstinence-only, faith-based, and the psychology of stigma. James JS, AIDS Treat News. 2004 Jun)

“The problem is the increasingly unmistakable efforts from a minority of religious conservatives to sabotage and destroy existing AIDS organizations, and replace them with programs intended to control the epidemic almost exclusively by stopping people from having sex. This problem should be addressed before right-wing politicians transfer funding and control of Federal and other AIDS programs from those who have cared for people with AIDS for the last 20 years to those who have not.”
