foarte tare, frate!
totusi, ideea nu mi-e clara decat in cazul in care acel "cel mai singur numar de pe lume" e traducerea lui "one is the loneliest number" (desi in engleza sunt mai bine si are un dublu inteles). daca nu e, atunci n-am inteles.

(la: VIATA..., CA DESTIN INTR-O IUBIRE PURA)
Dinisor, mesajul tau trebe comentat in intregime aici, se merita:

Am stabilit asta, out.

"Inteligenta provoaca! Frumusetea trece cu timpul. Sufletul ramane."

Ai vazut filmul "The mirror has two faces" ? "
Nu e doar o alegere. E legea supravietuirii speciei si a selectiei naturale. Iar the mirror has allways two faces. The one which cannot be seen at the first sight is the one you can guess about but never know truly.

:-))))))

poeziile mele preferate... - de nebunica la: 29/11/2004 14:07:10
(la: Cele mai frumoase poezii)
1. E.E. Cummings - you said Is (XIII)

you said Is
there anything which
is dead or alive more beautiful
than my body,to have in your fingers
(trembling ever so little)?
Looking into
your eyes Nothing,i said,except the
air of spring smelling of never and forever.

....and through the lattice which moved as
if a hand is touched by a
hand(which
moved as though
fingers touch a girl's
breast,
lightly)
Do you believe in always,the wind
said to the rain
I am too busy with
my flowers to believe,the rain answered

2. E.E. Cummings - i carry your heart with me

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

3. Edgar Allan Poe - Alone

From childhood's hour I have not been
As others were; I have not seen
As others saw; I could not bring
My passions from a common spring.
From the same source I have not taken
My sorrow; I could not awaken
My heart to joy at the same tone;
And all I loved, I loved alone.
Then- in my childhood, in the dawn
Of a most stormy life- was drawn
From every depth of good and ill
The mystery which binds me still:
From the torrent, or the fountain,
From the red cliff of the mountain,
From the sun that round me rolled
In its autumn tint of gold,
From the lightning in the sky
As it passed me flying by,
From the thunder and the storm,
And the cloud that took the form
(When the rest of Heaven was blue)
Of a demon in my view

4. E.E. Cummings - I Am A Beggar Always

i am a beggar always
who begs in your mind

(slightly smiling, patient, unspeaking
with a sign on his
chest
BLIND)yes i

am this person of whom somehow
you are never wholly rid(and who

does not ask for more than
just enough dreams to
live on)
after all, kid

you might as well
toss him a few thoughts

a little love preferably,
anything which you can't
pass off on other people: for
instance a
plugged promise-

the he will maybe (hearing something
fall into his hat)go wandering
after it with fingers;till having

found
what was thrown away
himself
taptaptaps out of your brain, hopes, life
to(carefully turning a
corner)never bother you any more

5. e.e. cummings - the boys i mean are not refined

the boys i mean are not refined
they go with girls who buck and bite
they do not give a fuck for luck
they hump them thirteen times a night

one hangs a hat upon her tit
one carves a cross on her behind
they do not give a shit for wit
the boys i mean are not refined

they come with girls who bite and buck
who cannot read and cannot write
who laugh like they would fall apart
and masturbate with dynamite

the boys i mean are not refined
they cannot chat of that and this
they do not give a fart for art
they kill like you would take a piss

they speak whatever's on their mind
they do whatever's in their pants
the boys i mean are not refined
they shake the mountains when they dance

Dupa cite stiu eu: hebrew = evreu
israeli = israelian
jew = ? (eu credeam jidan---corectati-ma)
jewish = de religie ?

before the exile (cf. HEBREW sb. 1), but the commonest name for contemporary
or modern representatives of this group, now spread throughout the world. The
word `Jew' is also applied to groups, e.g. the Falashas in Ethiopia, not
ethnically related to persons of the main European groups, the Ashkenazim and
the Sephardim.

Jew was a person born of a Jewish mother, but this formula suffers from the
defect that the defined word is included in adjectival form in the definition.
The same flaw occurs in part of the new definition enacted by the Israeli
Parliament in..1970, according to which a person is a Jew if he or she is the
offspring of a Jewish mother or has been converted to the Jewish faith by the
Orthodox Rabbinate or by the Rabbis of the Jewish Reform Movement or by the
Rabbis of the Jewish Conservative Movement.

2 a transf. and offensive. As a name of opprobrium: spec. applied to a
grasping or extortionate person (whether Jewish or not) who drives hard
bargains.
In medieval England, Jews, though engaged in many pursuits, were particularly
familiar as money-lenders, their activities being publicly regulated for them
by the Crown, whose proteges they were. In private, Christians also practised
money-lending, though forbidden to do so by Canon Law. Thus the name of Jew
came to be associated in the popular mind with usury and any extortionate
practices that might be supposed to accompany it, and gained an opprobrious
sense.

On WBAM FM (Chicago) radio station, on a morning show, the DJ launches a new contest with consistent prizes.

The CONTEST was called MATE MATCH. The DJ called someone on his office, ask the person if it's married or has a significant other.

In case of positive answer, the DJ ask him 3 very personal questions after which the person is asked to provide the name and the phone number of the mate to check the answers.

If the answers are correct the couple wins a really big prize.

DJ: "Hi, this is Edgar from WBAM. Have you heard about our MATE MATCH contest ?"
HIM(laughing): "Yeah, I've heard."
DJ: "OK! So you know the prize is a 5 days trip to Orlando, Florida, in case you win. Your first name ?"
HIM: "Brian."
DJ: "Brian, are you married, RIGHT ?"
Brian: "Yes."
DJ: "Good. And your wife first name is ... ?"
Brian: " Sara."
DJ: "Sara is at work right now ?"
Brian (laughing): "Yes, she's at work."
DJ: "Okay then ... first question - When did you two have sex last time ?"
Brian: "She's going to kill me !"
DJ: "Don't worry, Brian."
Brian: "This morning, around 8 a.m."
DJ: "Well done, man! Second question - How long did it take ?"
Brian: "About 10 minutes."
DJ: "Wow! You really want to wins this trip, right? Nobody would easily recognize this !"
Brian: "Yes, we'd really enjoy this trip."
DJ: "Okaaay ... last question - Where did you two do it ?"
Brian (laughing): "Weeeellllll .... "
DJ: "So far you did good, Brian ... come on, tell me where."
Brian: "Not there is something, but her mother lives with us for few weeks."
DJ: "Hmmm ... sounds better and better ..."
Brian: "... and my mother in law was in the shower and ... in short ... we did it on the kitchen table !"
DJ: "Isn't that great ? A real adventure ... well, my dear listeners, let's put Brian on "hold" and call the WIFE. "
DJ: "Hello. Sara's there ?"
After a short while ... Sara's on the phone :

DJ: "Hi Sara, this is Edgar from WBAM. We're on air and till now we talked couple of hours to Brian."
Sara (laughing): "Couple of hours ?"
DJ: "Well, several minutes, in fact ... he's on air with us. Do you know the rules of our MATE MATCH contest ?"
Sara: "No."
DJ: " Okaaay."
Brian: laughs.
Sara (laughing): "Brian, what in the world are you up to ?"
Brian: "Sara, you just have to give absolutely honest answers to the next questions. You gotta be absolutely honest."
DJ: "OK ... let's see ... if your answers are the same with Brian's ... you'll win a 5 days trip to Orlando, Florida. You got it, Sara ?"
Sara (laughing): "Yeah, I got it."
DJ: "Then ... let's see ... - When did you two have sex last time ?"
Sara: "O God ! Brian ...... this morning before Brian left for work."
DJ: "Good, good ... but which hour was it ?"
Sara: "I think around 8 a.m."
DJ: "Very good ... next question - How long did it take ? "
Sara: "12, 15 minutes .. probably."
DJ: "Hmmm. Close enough. I'm sure you're trying to protect his manhood. You're one question to the trip in Florida. Are you ready ?"
Sara (laughing): "Yeesss."
DJ: " Where did you two do it ?"
Sara: "Oh God, Brian ... you didn't tell them ... did you ?"
Brian: "Don't worry ... tell them."
DJ: "What's wrong Sara ... something's bothering you ?"
Sara: "Well, just that my mother is in holiday and she's living with us ......"
DJ: "And she saw you ?"
Sara: "Brian?!"
Brian: "No ... oh no, I don't ..."
DJ: "Hold it ... calm down ... I need an answer ! Please !?"
Sara: "Oh, God , I don't believe you told them such a thing !"
Brian: "Come on, honey, we're talking about a trip to Florida !"
DJ: "Come on, sis ... we don't have all day for this. Where did you two do it ?"
Sara (after a short pause): " In the ass !"

(a long, long, long silence)
DJ: "We'll be back after commercials ............. "

The Value of a Drink
"Sometimes when I reflect back on all the wine I drink
I feel shame. Then I look into the glass and think

Then I say to myself, "It is better that I drink this wine and let their
dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver."

And saving the best for last, as explained by Cliff Clavin, of Cheers.
One afternoon at Cheers, Cliff Clavin was explaining the Buffalo Theory
to his buddy Norm.
Here's how it went:
"Well ya see, Norm, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as
fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the
slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural
selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed
and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of
the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only
operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol,
as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and
weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer
eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more
efficient machine.
That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers."

whispering when you are not.

The Silent Treatment :) - de donquijote la: 13/07/2006 07:34:27
(la: Trancaneala Aristocrata "9")
A man and his wife were having some problems at thome and were giving each other the silent treatment.

Suddenly, the man realized that the next day he would need his wife to wake him at 5 a.m. for an early morning business flight. Not wanting to be the first to break the silence (and LOSE), he wrote on a piece of paper, "Please wake me at 5 a.m." He left it where he knew she would find it.

The next morning, the man woke up, only to discover it was 9 a.m. and he had missed his flight. Furious, he was about to go to see why his wife hadn't woken him up when he noticed a piece of paper by the bed.
The paper said: "It is 5 a.m. Wake up."

Men are not equipped for these kinds of contests.

Asi vrea sa continui in Englezeste.

I reached this site completely by chance and was amazed to see that the situation of the Jews in Romania during the communist era and before is still of such a huge interest.
My father Ing. Aurel Rozei was one of the engineers that were employed in the first Canalul Dunarea Marea Neagra project. He was sentenced to death in 1952 for sabotageing the works. Is this trial known now in Romania ? What is the attitude towards it. Any information will be highly appreciated.

Alien.

http://jesusneverexisted.com/militant.htm: Jerusalem was besieged by the Romans in the spring of 70 C.E. and ruthlessly retaken during the summer, by which time the defenders had been reduced to civil war, starvation and (according to Josephus) even cannibalism. The religious fanatics made their last stand at the fortress they had taken first – Massada. When faced by inevitable defeat (73 C.E.) they met it with a defiant act of mass suicide. The terrible price the Jews paid for their revolt was the total destruction of their temple and the city in which it stood.

Evreii s-au stabilit in alte parti. http://www.geocities.com/jewishwarriors/: Finally, in the 9th century, the leaders and the majority of the Khazar nobility came to be Jews. One likely possibility for how this happened is a conversion of the nobility. This is the official version of the situation, as told by the Khazar ruler Joseph in his famous letter to Hasdai ibn Shaprut of Spain.

Rezolutia in sine era favorabila evreilor care primeau casa, o tara. La o bere politica.

United Nations General Assembly Resolution 181 called for the partition of the British-ruled Palestine Mandate into a Jewish state and an Arab state. It was approved on November 29, 1947 with 33 votes in favor, 13 against, 10 abstentions and one absent (see list at end of document).
The resolution was accepted by the Jews in Palestine, yet rejected by the Arabs in Palestine and the Arab state.

Solutiile crizelor se regasesc in corecta intelegere a istoriei.

The magic of photography is metaphysical. What you see in the photograph isn't what you saw at the time. The real skill of photography is organised visual lying. Terence Donovan (b. 1936), British photographer. Guardian (London, 19 Nov. 1983)

The photograph isolates and perpetuates a moment of time: an important and revealing moment, or an unimportant and meaningless one, depending upon the photographer's understanding of his subject and mastery of his process.-Edward Weston

Let us first say what photography is not. A photograph is not a painting, a poem, a symphony, a dance. It is not just a pretty picture, not an exercise in contortionist techniques and sheer print quality. It is or should be a significant document, a pene- trating statement, which can be described in a very simple term - selectivity. -Berenice Abbott

Photographs are perhaps the most mysterious of all the objects that make up, and thicken, the environment we recognize as modern. Photographs really are experience captured, and the camera is the ideal arm of consciousness in its acquisitive mood.-Susan Sontag

You learn to see by practice. It's just like playing tennis, you get better the more you play. The more you look around at things, the more you see. The more you photograph, the more you realize what can be photographed and what can't be photographed. You just have to keep doing it.-Eliot Porter

The Getty Images Money Machine
``````````````````````````````````````````````
The popular daily newspaper, USA Today, recently published a copyrighted article (by Byron Acohido) about the top stock photography agency in the world, Getty Images. Although the article focused on tracing Getty's successful rise to the top of the industry, it revealed some interesting numbers. Especially if you are considering working for the company as a freelancer.
First of all, let me reiterate my personal philosophy that I believe good
stock photography is the result of a photographer's (amateur or pro) abiding interest in specific subject areas. For example, wildlife, medicine,
education, children, aviation, sports, and so on. The resulting photographs have the opportunity to be both art and documentary. Eventually they may have historical significance and grow as an asset for a photographer's heirs. In the meantime, if the photographer finds matching markets for his or her interest areas, profits can be made.
If this is your worldview also, then you'll want to turn and run if a Getty recruiter asks you to be part of their freelancer team. Here's why.
I don't pretend to be an economics wizard, but in Pilgrim's Pride
Elementary School, I was pretty good at arithmetic. I think you'll agree
with me that the numbers presented in the USA Today article do not look pretty for freelancers.
They spin out like this.
The 2003 Getty Images gross revenue was $523.2 million, with net income of $64 million. (88% operating costs; 12% net profit). The author is quoted as saying 83% of Getty Images sales comes from freelancers. That's $434,256 ,000 in freelancer photos. Getty gives 40% of that to the freelancers.
That's $173,702,400 .
Getty has 2,500 freelancers (contributors), according to the author. That's $69,480.96 annually to a freelancer, or $190.36 per day (365/yr.).
Running a stock photo business can get to be a marathon, and get to be
expensive. Using Getty Image's own costs/net income ratio (88/12), that
would reduce a freelancer's $69,480.96 gross down to $8,337.72 net annually, or $22.84 per day. But since freelancers are known to be frugal, and government RMA annual statement studies show entrepreneurs to be Spartan,
let's lower the cost percentage (to 76%), and double the net income figure to 24% and make it $45.68 per day, ($5.75 per hour for an 8-hour day).
PRODUCING THE COMMODITY
To produce images, most of your costs are going to be eaten up in camera equipment, travel costs, insurance, lodging and meals.
the ways of leaving - de Little Eagle la: 18/05/2004 23:20:15
(la: Farewell brothers and sisters)
Dear Brother Destin(a good name,Great Spirit Wakan Tanka ti l-a dat fara sa stii),
Am gandit in acest weekend trecut sa mai stau o vreme cu voi toti si sa mai fumam putin tobacco,dar am incalcat legea.Legea noastra.Peste acest weekend trecut am gandit ca mai pot ramane dar nu o pot face, azi si ieri am scris ultimele texte si ...Destin-ul a ales pe tine sa fii ultimul care va primi ultimul meu text,e scris asa si este menit sa fie asa,the eagle flies free my brother,you can't stop his wings...
Azi ,si este noapte cu stele,ele mi-au vorbit,a fost vant putin si cateva picaturi de ploaie,am stat in gradina si gandit la Marele Spirit,mi-a vorbit si am plans din nou,lacrimi si picaturi de ploaie pe obrajii mei.
Mi-a spus prin Creatia toata ca trebuie sa plec si tu esti ultimul WARRIOR care va purta cuvantul LUI prin mine.
Imi pare sincer rau,toti din cercul cafenelei imi sunteti mai mult decat dragi,NU va imaginati nici in vise cat de mult va iubesc pe toti deopotriva,imi sunteti frati si surori si mereu ma voi gandi cu dragoste la voi toti.
M-ati injurat,m-ati indragit,ori m-ati considerat un excentric,cine sunt eu sa trag concluzii?Ceea ce stiu e ca va iubesc si voi fi in spirit mereu cu voi.
O spun cu sinceritate,si tie draga Frate iti multumesc din suflet pentru cuvintele tale.
A venit timpul sa plec,va iubesc mult si veti fi mereu cu mine in inima,spirit si suflet.Si asta e ,fiti siguri,o certitudine.
Multumesc Daniel pentru tot si la fel Admin.Niciodata nu am fost impotriva voastra si a nimanui,fiti bravi in viata si sa stiti ca fara sa cunoasteti cu totii,fiecare din voi are in par pene de pace si razboi,este legea.
Wakan Tanka este cu voi in voi si in jurul vostru,NU sunteti separati de EL.
Nu esti idealist si visator daca vei crede in dragoste,iubire si pace.Vei intelege sa devii intelept si sa te vezi pe tine in oricine si in toata Creatia.
Imaginati-va ca Bufallow Cow Woman(Creatia toata)este cea mai frumoasa femeie de pe glob!Oare nu veti fi indragostiti de ea?Oare nu vreti s-o protejati si s-o iubiti,sa o aparati chiar sfidand moartea?
Astea mi-au fost cuvintele de incheiere.
Love&peace sisters and brothers,
may the Great Spirit be with you all the time.
Vremea si Marketul pt. Horia D - de LMC la: 24/06/2004 21:22:26
(la: Cum sa devii un liberal de nota 10!)
Ah, lacul!!! Ce pofta am acum de apa si soare. Too bad I have to work. Got to pay those taxes, you know. Se pare totusi ca marketul merge destul de bine, economia este in plina putere. Sugestiile mele, American Funds. It's the best fund company, having 64% of its equity and bond funds raking in the top quartile of their Morningstar peer groups over the past five years. Last year, just as an example, the American Funds New Perspective Fund Cl A (ANWPX) had a 36.76% return. Daca vrei mai multe informatii dute la www.americanfunds.com. Below I am quoting an interesting commentary:
_______
There are three reasons why I am bullish on the stock market. First, the economy is growing rapidly. Second, corporate profits are also rising rapidly. Third, George W. Bush is the pro-growth candidate standing firm with pro-investor tax cuts. He is going to win.
The most accurate gauge of recent election results going back to 1988 is the Iowa Electronic Presidential Winner-Take-All Market. It has a better track record than the polls. The collective wisdom of ordinary people is smarter than the elite polling experts, according James Surowiecki’s “The Wisdom of Crowds.” He specifically points to the Iowa market trading system as a superior election forecaster than the polls.
What’s it telling us now? The Bush contract is trading at 54 cents on the dollar, while the Kerry contract is exchanging hands at 47 cents. Since trading began on June 1, Bush has steadily held this lead. There you have it. The market speaks.
Where were all these Q & A's when we were pregnant? - de SB_one la: 17/07/2004 22:54:43
(la: Femeia)
PREGNANCY Q & A & more!
Q: Should I have a baby after 35?
A: No, 35 children is enough.
Q: I'm two months pregnant now. When will my baby move?
A: With any luck, right after he finishes college.
Q: What is the most reliable method to determine a baby's sex?
A: Childbirth.
Q: My wife is five months pregnant and so moody that sometimes
she's borderline irrational.
A: So what's your question?
Q: My childbirth instructor says it's not pain I'll feel
during labor,but pressure. Is she right?
A: Yes, in the same way that a tornado might be called an air
current.
Q: When is the best time to get an epidural?
A: Right after you find out you're pregnant.
Q: Is there any reason I have to be in the delivery room while
my wife is in labor?
A: Not unless the word "alimony" means anything to you.
Q: Is there anything I should avoid while recovering from
childbirth?
A: Yes, pregnancy.
Q: Do I have to have a baby shower?
A: Not if you change the baby's diaper very quickly.
Q: Our baby was born last week. When will my wife begin to
feel and act normal again?
A: When the kids are in college.
"Nu tac!" - pt LMC - de OmuletulGoma la: 05/08/2004 01:19:07
(la: Despre Alegerile din S.U.A.: De ce trebuie sa votam pt. GWB.)
Da, in titlu il citez pe Goma.
LMC scrie:
Ai dorinta sa-mi inchizi gura, asta nu vei reusi niciodata. Atita timp cit am vlaga in mine, atita timp cit singele-mi pulseaza in vene, voi spune raului rau si binelui bine. Sa fiu sincera cu tine nu ma intereseaza ce faci sau ce face altul atita timp cit nu-mi baga nimeni pe git ideile murdare, sau guvernul tarii in care traiesc nu se asociaza cu ideile aceastea. Si eu cred ca am dreptul acesta. Nu te ingrijora, nu voi vota pentru infiintarea lagarelor de concentrare, dar vad ca lagarele de concentrare pentru care votezi tu sint aproape de infiintare. Cred ca vei fi primul care ma vei lua de la spate si ma vei impinge in cuptor impreuna cu toti ceilalti conservativi, crestini sau altii care nu-s de acord cu tine. Si inca mai ai tupeul sa-mi spui ca cica eu sint plina de ura. Ma intreb oare ce parere au parintii tai, sau bunicii tai despre tine si ideile tale.
De unde atata furie?
Nu vreau deloc sa-ti inchid gura, ti-am sugerat doar ca tacerea este mai buna decat acuzarea.
Conform regulilor acestui forum, eu am chestionat si combatut ideile dumitale, nu persoana. Nu am spus sau implicat ca ai fi "red neck", sau plina de ura. Parerea mea este doar ca esti "misguided", indrumata gresit. Nu am si nu vreau sa fac vreo judecata asupra persoanei dumitale, am mai spus-o. Ma leg numai de ideile pe care le promovezi.
Ma acuzi ca as accepta frumosul si bunul numai daca se potrivesc calapodului meu. Ba dimpotriva, eu incerc sa-ti arat ca bun si frumos mai poate exista si in afara abacului dumitale.
Eu promovez toleranta si ingaduinta, dreptate sociala, dumneata condamni "ideile murdare" pentru ca nu incap in normele dumitale de conduita.
Ti-am spus ca nu consider ca valabil decat Noul Testament, dar am gresit. Nu iau in consideratie decat ghilimelele atribuite lui Isus. Daca a fost divin sau nu, pentru mine nu conteaza - gasesc ca a fost un mare invatator. Tot restul bibliei pentru mine nu este decat dogma si/sau istoria lui Israel. Comentariile si interpretarile celor de "dupa" nu ma intereseaza. Eu il ascult numai pe invatator:
"For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father also will forgive you; but if you do not forgive men their trespasses neither will your father forgive your trespasses." - MATTHEW 6:14-15
"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. The second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets." - MATTHEW 22:37-40
"Why do you call Me good ? No one is good but God alone." - LUKE 18:19
"I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." - LUKE 5:32
"Beware of practicing your piety before men in order to be seen by them; for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven." - MATTHEW 6:1
"Blessed are those who Hunger and Thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied."Matthew 5:6
"Blessed are the Merciful, for they shall obtain mercy." Matthew 5:7
"Blessed are the Peacemakers,
for they shall be called Sons (and Daughters) of God." Matthew 5:9
"Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven." Matthew 5:10
"Blessed are You when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account" Matthew 5:11
"LOVE ONE ANOTHER!"John 15:12
"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." (NIV, John 13:34-35)
"Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you." (Matthew 5:44)
"There is a saying, 'Love your friends and hate your enemies.' But I say: Love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way you will be acting as true sons of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust too. If you love only those who love you, what good is that? Even scoundrels do that much. If you are friendly only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else? Even the heathen do that. But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect. (TLB, Matthew 5:43-48)
"You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.' "But I say to you, do not resist him who is evil; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also. (NAS, Matthew 5:38-39)
So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. (NIV, Matthew 7:12)
"So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. (KJV, John 8:7)
Imi cer iertare celor care nu inteleg engleza. Nu am avut la indemana traducerea romaneasca, dar ce cititi mai sus nu sunt decat vorbele din Noul Testament atribuite lui Isus: intoarce si celalalt obraz, rasplateste raul cu bine, numai cel fara pata sa arunce prima piatra s.a.m.d
Ma pui pe lista celor ignorati...cine inchide gura cui?
Henri Cartier-Bresson (1908 – 2004), fotograf - OMAGIU - de ovidiusimina la: 11/08/2004 10:54:33
(la: O conversatie cu DINU LAZAR, fotograf)
« Au fond, ce n’est pas la photo en soi qui
m’interesse. Ce qui je veux c’est de capter une
fraction de seconde du réel »
Henri Cartier-Bresson (1908 – 2004)
===================================================
Kingdoms of the world in a moment
Aug 5th 2004, From The Economist print edition
http://www.economist.com/cities/displaystory.cfm?story_id=3071607
Henri Cartier-Bresson, whose photographs defined the
20th century, died on August 3rd at the age of 95
ALTHOUGH his name was familiar almost everywhere, far
more so indeed than his work, Henri Cartier-Bresson
himself was not a familiar sight. With his alert blue
eyes and a coloured handkerchief knotted round his
neck, he would wander the streets near his home on
Paris's rue de Rivoli and seldom be recognised. One of
the greatest photographers of the 20th century was
himself rarely photographed.
In his lifetime, he travelled to all corners of the
earth, capturing images of some of the most
extraordinary moments of 20th-century history—the
Spanish civil war, the liberation of Paris after the
second world war and the funeral of Mahatma Gandhi. At
the same time he framed and preserved less famous
moments, elevating them with his genius so that they
somehow seemed to capture the essence of life itself.
His unequalled ability to seize a millisecond in time
was uncanny. In his book “The Decisive Moment”,
published in 1952, he wrote: “It is the simultaneous
recognition, in a fraction of a second, of the
significance of an event as well as a precise
organisation of forms, which give that event its
proper expression.” He was never very interested in
the technology of photography, in the effects that
could be obtained during developing and editing in a
dark room. It was all about the thrill of the chase,
the chance to seize a moment.
The man who first inspired Mr Cartier-Bresson was a
photographer called Martin Munkacsi, whose picture of
naked African boys running into Lake Tanganyika in
1931 persuaded him to take photography seriously. “I
couldn't believe that such a thing could be caught on
camera,” he said, “so I grabbed my Leica and went out
into the street.”
Between 1932 and 1935, he lived rough in Italy, Mexico
and Spain where he took some of his most memorable
images. Back in Paris he worked with Jean Renoir, a
film director, and ended up playing the unlikely role
of an English servant in the director's masterpiece,
“La Règle du Jeu”. He was a prisoner-of-war for three
years, and after the war was one of the founders of
the Magnum agency, a trail-blazing photographers'
co-operative. In 1948 he went on the road again,
mostly to India and China (in time for the fall of
Chiang Kai-shek), in an age when the images of
photojournalists like him filled the pages of picture
magazines that were, in the pre-television era,
hungrily viewed by millions.
Unassuming genius
For the last quarter of a century, Mr Cartier-Bresson
eschewed photography, taking only the occasional
snapshot of friends and family, and turning his
attention to drawing. (He trained originally as a
painter, his early work influenced by his friend, the
surrealist artist Max Ernst.) He maintained that he
scarcely wanted to discuss photography any more. “It's
like when you're divorced”, he said, “and people keep
asking about your former wife. There's something
indecent about it.”
He settled into a quiet life in France—in Paris and in
the small house that he owned for some 30 years in the
Lubéron, a region in the south of the country, to the
east of Avignon. And there he died on Tuesday August
3rd, just less than three weeks away from his 96th
birthday.
Mr Cartier-Bresson always said that to be a great
photographer you had to be unintrusive. “For me,
photography is very much a physical pleasure—it's like
hunting, except that we don't kill.” At the height of
his career he would stalk his subjects, and his quarry
would often be unaware that it had been captured on
film. His desire to remain out of the limelight stayed
with him to the end, including his wish to hold back
the world's photographers from the funeral of one of
the greatest of them.
His funeral was a private affair attended by some 50
family and close friends. Only after it had ended did
the French Ministry of Culture make an official
announcement of his death. And the next day, August
5th, many of his most famous images were splashed
across the front pages of newspapers the world over: a
woman slapping an informer she recognises at a
deportation camp in Dessau in 1945; Muslim women in
Srinagar, Kashmir, praying to the sun as it rises over
the distant Himalayas; and a French family picnicking
by the River Marne in 1938, almost a last pre-war
moment of stillness.
Of Mr Cartier-Bresson's death, President Jacques
Chirac said: “With him, France loses a genius
photographer, a true master, and one of the most
gifted artists of his generation.” But it is not only
France's loss. Mr Cartier-Bresson's fame, which grew
despite his efforts to avoid it, reminds a much wider
world of its persistent admiration for unassuming
genius, and of the dwindling stock of targets for that
admiration.
