2 Time Magazine Journalists Hurt in Iraq
By The Associated Press

19 December 2003

(AP) -- A senior reporter and a veteran photographer for Time magazine
were wounded along with two U.S. soldiers when a grenade was tossed into
their Humvee, the military and the magazine said Thursday.

Time senior correspondent Michael Weisskopf and contributing
photographer James Nachtwey were traveling with a U.S. Army patrol in
Baghdad on Wednesday night when the attack occurred, a statement from Time
managing editor Jim Kelly said.

A military spokesman said they were with a unit of the Army's 1st
Armored Division.

The military official, who spoke only condition of anonymity, said one
of the journalists was severely wounded and the other was slightly injured.
Time said both were in stable condition and were awaiting transfer to a U.S.
military hospital in Landstuhl, Germany.

Nachtwey is an award-winning photographer known for haunting images of
war and poverty. He was the subject of a 2001 Oscar-nominated documentary,
"War Photographer," and has won many awards. This year he shared a $1
million Dan David prize for documenting "the apocalyptic events of our
time."

Weisskopf is an award-winning correspondent based in Washington. He
covers national politics and investigations and was a finalist in the 1996
Pulitzer Prize for national reporting.

The Paris-based World Association of Newspapers has said that at least
16 journalists have been killed in Iraq this year. Many others have been
wounded.

In the last known incident, police said the editor of an independent
newspaper in the northern city of Mosul was shot and killed on Oct. 28.

Only Photographic Documentation of Japanese World War II POW ============================================================
[2004-05-26] An interesting story by Bill Fairley appeared in the Fort Worth, Texas, "Star Telegram" today regarding a Japanese prisoner of war during World War II and a pinhole camera. A Japanese officer supplied POW Terence Kirk "with the things he needed to fashion a box camera with a pinhole aperture. The resulting photos are the only documentation of Japanese mistreatment of American and allied POWs."...

PDN Photo Annual

Have you visited the online gallery showcasing this year's winners of the PDN Photo Annual? You can view an array of beautiful and interesting images, and see the contact information for each of the honored photographers, magazines, book publishers, web designers and art directors.
Also, readers can cast their votes for their favorite image in each of the six categories. The stakes are high: The photographer who wins the most votes in each category receives a free portfolio on Photoserve for one year. Maybe that's why the voting has been so intense in some categories.

Frate sa ma ierti, dar ma raliez Frumoasei in apararea Abbei.

Ce parere ai despre felul in care "he sold out to the establishment" (sa vandut)?

In liceu ii ascultam mult.

Masters of War

Come you masters of war
You that build all the guns
You that build the death planes
You that build the big bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks

You that never done nothin'
But build to destroy
You play with my world
Like it's your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
When the fast bullets fly

Like Judas of old
You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain

You fasten the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you set back and watch
When the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion
As young people's blood
Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud

You've thrown the worst fear
That can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children
Into the world
For threatening my baby
Unborn and unnamed
You ain't worth the blood
That runs in your veins

How much do I know
To talk out of turn
You might say that I'm young
You might say I'm unlearned
But there's one thing I know
Though I'm younger than you
Even Jesus would never
Forgive what you do

Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul

And I hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand o'er your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead

I am only one, but I AM one!

Henri Cartier-Bresson (1908 – 2004), fotograf - OMAGIU - de ovidiusimina la: 11/08/2004 10:54:33
(la: O conversatie cu DINU LAZAR, fotograf)
« Au fond, ce n’est pas la photo en soi qui
m’interesse. Ce qui je veux c’est de capter une
fraction de seconde du réel »

Henri Cartier-Bresson (1908 – 2004)
===================================================

Kingdoms of the world in a moment

Aug 5th 2004, From The Economist print edition
http://www.economist.com/cities/displaystory.cfm?story_id=3071607

Henri Cartier-Bresson, whose photographs defined the
20th century, died on August 3rd at the age of 95

ALTHOUGH his name was familiar almost everywhere, far
more so indeed than his work, Henri Cartier-Bresson
himself was not a familiar sight. With his alert blue
eyes and a coloured handkerchief knotted round his
neck, he would wander the streets near his home on
Paris's rue de Rivoli and seldom be recognised. One of
the greatest photographers of the 20th century was
himself rarely photographed.

In his lifetime, he travelled to all corners of the
earth, capturing images of some of the most
extraordinary moments of 20th-century history—the
Spanish civil war, the liberation of Paris after the
second world war and the funeral of Mahatma Gandhi. At
the same time he framed and preserved less famous
moments, elevating them with his genius so that they
somehow seemed to capture the essence of life itself.

His unequalled ability to seize a millisecond in time
was uncanny. In his book “The Decisive Moment”,
published in 1952, he wrote: “It is the simultaneous
recognition, in a fraction of a second, of the
significance of an event as well as a precise
organisation of forms, which give that event its
proper expression.” He was never very interested in
the technology of photography, in the effects that
could be obtained during developing and editing in a
dark room. It was all about the thrill of the chase,
the chance to seize a moment.

The man who first inspired Mr Cartier-Bresson was a
photographer called Martin Munkacsi, whose picture of
naked African boys running into Lake Tanganyika in
1931 persuaded him to take photography seriously. “I
couldn't believe that such a thing could be caught on
camera,” he said, “so I grabbed my Leica and went out
into the street.”

Between 1932 and 1935, he lived rough in Italy, Mexico
and Spain where he took some of his most memorable
images. Back in Paris he worked with Jean Renoir, a
film director, and ended up playing the unlikely role
of an English servant in the director's masterpiece,
“La Règle du Jeu”. He was a prisoner-of-war for three
years, and after the war was one of the founders of
the Magnum agency, a trail-blazing photographers'
co-operative. In 1948 he went on the road again,
mostly to India and China (in time for the fall of
Chiang Kai-shek), in an age when the images of
photojournalists like him filled the pages of picture
magazines that were, in the pre-television era,
hungrily viewed by millions.

Unassuming genius
For the last quarter of a century, Mr Cartier-Bresson
eschewed photography, taking only the occasional
snapshot of friends and family, and turning his
attention to drawing. (He trained originally as a
painter, his early work influenced by his friend, the
surrealist artist Max Ernst.) He maintained that he
scarcely wanted to discuss photography any more. “It's
like when you're divorced”, he said, “and people keep
asking about your former wife. There's something
indecent about it.”

He settled into a quiet life in France—in Paris and in
the small house that he owned for some 30 years in the
Lubéron, a region in the south of the country, to the
east of Avignon. And there he died on Tuesday August
3rd, just less than three weeks away from his 96th
birthday.

Mr Cartier-Bresson always said that to be a great
photographer you had to be unintrusive. “For me,
photography is very much a physical pleasure—it's like
hunting, except that we don't kill.” At the height of
his career he would stalk his subjects, and his quarry
would often be unaware that it had been captured on
film. His desire to remain out of the limelight stayed
with him to the end, including his wish to hold back
the world's photographers from the funeral of one of
the greatest of them.

His funeral was a private affair attended by some 50
family and close friends. Only after it had ended did
the French Ministry of Culture make an official
announcement of his death. And the next day, August
5th, many of his most famous images were splashed
across the front pages of newspapers the world over: a
woman slapping an informer she recognises at a
deportation camp in Dessau in 1945; Muslim women in
Srinagar, Kashmir, praying to the sun as it rises over
the distant Himalayas; and a French family picnicking
by the River Marne in 1938, almost a last pre-war
moment of stillness.

Of Mr Cartier-Bresson's death, President Jacques
Chirac said: “With him, France loses a genius
photographer, a true master, and one of the most
gifted artists of his generation.” But it is not only
France's loss. Mr Cartier-Bresson's fame, which grew
despite his efforts to avoid it, reminds a much wider
world of its persistent admiration for unassuming
genius, and of the dwindling stock of targets for that
admiration.

Bro,

I saw the millions, the naked and the dead
I saw the city streets running bloody red
I saw a thousand bombers circle in the sky
I saw the firestorm fifty stores high
I saw a hundred thousand scream and burn
I saw the armored wheels grind and turn
Universal soldier, doomed to live and tell
Fight and die forever, burn in bloody hell.

Death or glory death or glory
March forever in the sound and fury
Death or glory death or glory

Blood and iron it's the same old story
I held the Iron Cross, first class with the swords
I marched with Hitler down the bloody road of war
I was at Jutland loading'till the gun was hot
Killed at Trafalgar without firing a shot,
I was at Moscow burning in my tank
I was at Shiloh, marching in the ranks
I was a sturbannfuhrer fighting in Berlin
I was a Russian hero dying for Stalin.

Blood and iron it's the same old story
Die forever in the sound and fury
Death and glory death and glory(2X)

I swung a saber and I was a young Hussar
I was a Cossack,fighting for the Czar
I was a Viking,Berserker from the North
A Roman Gladiator murdered just for sport
I was with Bonaparte,I died at Waterloo
I was a Frankish Knight,a Polish Jew
I was a Spartan in the Trojan Wars
I was a warrior for Crazy Horse.

Death or glory death or glory(4X)

The loner Survivor, but not comfort for me
Death or glory(2X)
Executioner,Judge and Jury
Death or glory death or glory(2X)

It's fun to shoot some people: US General
10:19 AM February 4
A senior US Marine Corps General who said it was "fun to shoot some people" should have chosen his words more carefully but will not be disciplined, military officials have said.
Lieutenant General James Mattis, who led troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, made the comments at a conference on Tuesday in San Diego.
"Actually it's quite fun to fight them, you know. It's a hell of a hoot. It's fun to shoot some people. I'll be right up front with you, I like brawling," said Lt Gen Mattis.
"You go into Afghanistan, Lt Gen Mattis said during a panel discussion.
"You know, guys like that ain't got no manhood left anyway. So it's a hell of a lot of fun to shoot them."

The audience laughed and applauded after he made his remarks, which were shown on US television.

In a statement, General Michael Hagee, commander of the Marine Corps, praised Lt Gen Mattis as "one of this country's bravest and most experienced military leaders".
"While I understand that some people may take issue with the comments made by him, I also know he intended to reflect the unfortunate and harsh realities of war," Gen Hagee said.

-------------------------------------------------------------

A lot of a fun to shoot people!!! OK guys lets have fun strat shooting at me... hahahaha...

WHERE I COME FROM...
de ADELA A MOSCU

I come from the lands of

the Carpathians Mountains,

where the river of Somes

bears witness to many lovers

soothing each other’s wounds

dreaming for lands of opportunity,

the land of Freedom...

From the Heart of Transylvania

I bring you ballads of longing,

dances of passion, and soothing lullabies.

It was a sunny day of August

I flew over the Ocean of Atlantic

American skies of the seventies

caressed me with their international winds,

lit the path of my destiny

with their bright stars...

So much to see...

so much to feel...

so much to learn...

My open heart absorbed it all,

embraced it all...

So thirsty was my soul for self expression,

My every cell was burning with desire to

make a difference in the hearts

of those who suffer.

I wanted to make beauty

for the sake of healing...

Between two cultures I

I pray for peace,

and here I am

a Citizen of the World

wishing to hug all who are lost,

who are forgotten in the shadows of

indifference, prejudice and hate.

I come from the lands

where birds sing a romance language,

petals of roses are transformed into jams,

flowers of elderberry are made into cold juices

cups of words are found at every corner

with a smile of hope,

red wines overflow at cozy taverns

and no one is alone on holidays,

where friendship lasts a life time

and everyone still has a dream.

5:51 O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people.

5:57 O Ye who believe! Choose not for guardians such of those who received the Scripture before you, and of the disbelievers, as make a jest and sport of your religion. But keep your duty to Allah if ye are true believers.

5:64 The Jews say: "Allah's hand is tied up." Be their hands tied up and be they accursed for the (blasphemy) they utter. Nay, both His hands are widely outstretched: He giveth and spendeth (of His bounty) as He pleaseth. But the revelation that cometh to thee from Allah increaseth in most of them their obstinate rebellion and blasphemy. Amongst them we have placed enmity and hatred till the Day of Judgment. Every time they kindle the fire of war, Allah doth extinguish it; but they (ever) strive to do mischief on earth. And Allah loveth not those who do mischief.

9:30 The Jews call 'Uzair a son of Allah, and the Christians call Christ the son of Allah. That is a saying from their mouth; (in this) they but imitate what the unbelievers of old used to say. Allah's curse be on them: how they are deluded away from the Truth!

- am cetit undeva o fraza care suna cam asa:
"Peace is not the absence of war but the presence of justice.”

WAR PIGS - de Little Eagle la: 04/05/2004 12:07:57
(la: 1984...)
" Generals gathered in their masses,
Just like witches at black masses.
Evil minds that plot desctruction,
Sorcerers of death's construction.
In the fields the bodies burning,
As the war machine keeps turning.
Death and hatred to mankind,
Poisoning their brainwashed minds.
Oh Lord yeah!

Politicians hide themselves away,
They only started the war.
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that role to the poor, yeah.

Time will tell on their power minds,
Making war just for fun.
Treating people just like pawns in chess,
Wait till their judgement day comes, yeah.

Now in darkness world stops turning,
Ashes where the bodies burning.
No more war pigs have the power,
Hand of God has struck the hour.
Day of judgement, God is calling,
On their knees the war pigs crawling.
Begging mercies for their sins,
Satan,laughing,spreads his wings.
Oh Lord,yeah! "

Pare o carte interesanta, am reasfoit-o intr-o librarie, in traducere franceza.

Istoria se bazeaza pe fapte si documente. - de Zamolxe la: 31/10/2003 20:34:47
(la: ZIDUL RUSINII)
Alien.

http://jesusneverexisted.com/militant.htm: Jerusalem was besieged by the Romans in the spring of 70 C.E. and ruthlessly retaken during the summer, by which time the defenders had been reduced to civil war, starvation and (according to Josephus) even cannibalism. The religious fanatics made their last stand at the fortress they had taken first – Massada. When faced by inevitable defeat (73 C.E.) they met it with a defiant act of mass suicide. The terrible price the Jews paid for their revolt was the total destruction of their temple and the city in which it stood.

Evreii s-au stabilit in alte parti. http://www.geocities.com/jewishwarriors/: Finally, in the 9th century, the leaders and the majority of the Khazar nobility came to be Jews. One likely possibility for how this happened is a conversion of the nobility. This is the official version of the situation, as told by the Khazar ruler Joseph in his famous letter to Hasdai ibn Shaprut of Spain.

Rezolutia in sine era favorabila evreilor care primeau casa, o tara. La o bere politica.

United Nations General Assembly Resolution 181 called for the partition of the British-ruled Palestine Mandate into a Jewish state and an Arab state. It was approved on November 29, 1947 with 33 votes in favor, 13 against, 10 abstentions and one absent (see list at end of document).
The resolution was accepted by the Jews in Palestine, yet rejected by the Arabs in Palestine and the Arab state.

Solutiile crizelor se regasesc in corecta intelegere a istoriei.
