How to win friends - de (anonim) la: 27/05/2004 07:40:11
(la: Carti ce ne-au marcat existenta)
"How to win friends" a lui Dale Carnegie e cartea mea de suflet. Mi-a marcat vata intr-o maniera considerabila. O recomand tuturor. Cine mi-a dat-o cadou, initial, a vrut sa ma loveasca in amorul propriu.

Scorpions,Born to touch your feelings - de onutza la: 08/05/2007 21:13:50
(la: Versuri din melodiile voastre preferate...)
I was born from the sound of the strings
For someone to give everything
To be a song just for your feeling

Close your eyes and I'll try to get in
To waken your heart like the sping
'Cause I was born to touch your feelings

Steal the time, take a song and be glad
Be free as the birds, don't be sad
Your time will come, I'll make you feel it
You're still young like the sun after rain
Follow the light it's not in vain
And you will see I'll touch your feelings

You've got your songs
They are everyday for awhile
Just the only way to feel all right
You've got your songs
They are everyday for awhile
Just the only way to feel all right

You were born just to lose or to win
To be someone's chime in the wind
To live between your mind and feelings
Find your way, check it out
Learn each day
Follow the light, it's not in vain
And you will see I'll touch your feelings

You've got your songs
They are everyday for awhile
Just the only way to feel all right
You've got your songs
They are everyday for awhile
Just the only way to feel all right

I was born from the sound of the strings
For someone to give everything
To be a song just for your feeling
I was born from the sound of the strings

We have the lowdown on who's doing the hiring at three new start-up magazines, plus a new art director at Premiere, another new hire at New York, a new staff photographer added at Getty, changes at Blur Photo, and an update on what may be New York's new (mini) Photo District. Citire placuta.

****************************************

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger

Thank you.

What a greeting! This is like winning an Oscar! ...As if I would know!

Speaking of acting, one of my movies was called "True Lies." It's what the Democrats should have called their convention.

My fellow Americans, this is an amazing moment for me. To think that a once-scrawny boy from Austria could grow up to become Governor of California and stand in Madison Square Garden to speak on behalf of the President of the United States that is an immigrant's dream. It is the American dream.

I was born in Europe ...and I've traveled all over the world. I can tell you that there is no place, no country, more compassionate more generous more accepting and more welcoming than the United States of America.

As long as I live, I will never forget that day 21 years ago when I raised my hand and took the oath of citizenship.

Do you know how proud I was? I was so proud that I walked around with an American flag around my shoulders all day long.

Tonight, I want to talk about why I'm even more proud to be an American -why I'm proud to be a Republican and why I believe this country is in good hands.

When I was a boy, the Soviets occupied part of Austria. I saw their tanks in the streets .I saw communism with my own eyes. I remember the fear we had when we had to cross into the Soviet sector. Growing up, we were told, "Don't look the soldiers in the eye. Look straight ahead." It was a common belief that Soviet soldiers could take a man out of his own car and ship him off to the Soviet Union as slave labor.

My family didn't have a car -- but one day we were in my uncle's car. It was near dark as we came to a Soviet checkpoint. I was a little boy, I wasn't an action hero back then, and I remember how scared I was that the soldiers would pull my father or my uncle out of the car, and I'd never see him again. My family and so many others lived in fear of the Soviet boot. Today, the world no longer fears the Soviet Union and it is because of the United States of America!

As a kid I saw the socialist country that Austria became after the Soviets left. I love Austria and I love the Austrian people - but I always knew America was the place for me.

In school, when the teacher would talk about America, I would daydream about coming here. I would sit for hours watching American movies transfixed by my heroes like John Wayne. Everything about America seemed so big to me so open, so possible.

I finally arrived here in 1968.I had empty pockets, but I was full of dreams. The presidential campaign was in full swing. I remember watching the Nixon and Humphrey presidential race on TV. A friend who spoke German and English, translated for me. I heard Humphrey saying things that sounded like socialism which is what I had just left. But then I heard Nixon speak. He was talking about free enterprise, getting government off your back, lowering taxes, and strengthening the military. Listening to Nixon speak sounded more like a breath of fresh air.

I said to my friend, "What party is he?" My friend said, "He's a Republican." I said, "Then I am a Republican!" And I've been a Republican ever since! And trust me, in my wife's family, that's no small achievement! I'm proud to belong to the party of Abraham Lincoln, the party of Teddy Roosevelt, the party of Ronald Reagan and the party of George W. Bush.

To my fellow immigrants listening tonight, I want you to know how welcome you are in this party. We Republicans admire your ambition. We encourage your dreams. We believe in your future. One thing I learned about America is that if you work hard and play by the rules, this country is truly open to you. You can achieve anything.

Everything I have my career my success my family I owe to America. In this country, it doesn't make any difference where you were born. It doesn't make any difference who your parents were. It doesn't make any difference if, like me, you couldn't even speak English until you were in your twenties.

America gave me opportunities, and my immigrant dreams came true. I want other people to get the same chances I did, the same opportunities. And I believe they can. That's why I believe in this country, that's why I believe in this party and that's why I believe in this President.

Now, many of you out there tonight are "Republican" like me in your hearts and in your beliefs. Maybe you're from Guatemala. Maybe you're from the Philippines. Maybe Europe or the Ivory Coast. Maybe you live in Ohio Pennsylvania or New Mexico. And maybe just maybe you don't agree with this party on every single issue. I say to you tonight I believe that's not only okay that's what's great about this country. Here

we can respectfully disagree and still be patriotic still be American and still be good Republicans

My fellow immigrants, my fellow Americans how do you know if you are a Republican? I'll tell you how.

If you believe that government should be accountable to the people, not the people to the government...then you are a Republican! If you believe a person should be treated as an individual, not as a member of an interest group... then you are a Republican! If you believe your family knows how to spend your money better than the government does... then you are a Republican! If you believe our educational system should be held accountable for the progress of our children ... then you are a Republican! If you believe this country, not the United Nations, is the best hope of democracy in the world ... then you are a Republican! And, ladies and gentlemen ...if you believe we must be fierce and relentless and terminate terrorism ... then you are a Republican!

There is another way you can tell you're a Republican. You have faith in free enterprise, faith in the resourcefulness of the American people ...and faith in the U.S. economy. To those critics who are so pessimistic about our economy, I say: Don't be economic girlie men!

The U.S. economy remains the envy of the world. We have the highest economic growth of any of the world's major industrialized nations. Don't you remember the pessimism of twenty years ago when the critics said Japan and Germany were overtaking the U.S.? Ridiculous!

Now they say India and China are overtaking us. Don't you believe it! We may hit a few BUMPS -- but America always moves ahead! That's what Americans do!

We move prosperity ahead. We move freedom ahead. We move people ahead. Under President Bush, and Vice President Cheney, America's economy is moving ahead in spite of a recession they inherited and in spite of the attack on our homeland.

Now, the other party says there are two Americas. Don't believe that either. I've visited our troops in Iraq, Kuwait, Bosnia, Germany, and all over the world. I've visited our troops in California, where they train before they go overseas. And I've visited our military hospitals. And I can tell you this: Our young men and women in uniform do not believe there are two Americas!

They believe we are one America and they are fighting for it! We are one America - and President Bush is defending it with all his heart and soul!

That's what I admire most about the President. He's a man of perseverance.

He's a man of inner strength. He is a leader who doesn't flinch, doesn't waiver, does not back down. My fellow Americans, make no mistake about it terrorism is more insidious than communism, because it yearns to destroy not just the individual but the entire international order.

The President didn't go into Iraq because the polls told him it was popular. As a matter of fact, the polls said just the opposite. But leadership isn't about polls. It's about making decisions you think are right and then standing behind those decisions. That's why America is safer with George W. Bush as President.

He knows you don't reason with terrorists. You defeat them. He knows you can't reason with people blinded by hate. They hate the power of the individual. They hate the progress of women. They hate the religious freedom of others. They hate the liberating breeze of democracy. But, ladies and gentlemen, their hate is no match for America's decency.

We're the America that sends out Peace Corps volunteers to teach village children.

We're the America that sends out missionaries and doctors to raise up the poor and the sick. We're the America that gives more than any other country, to fight AIDS in Africa and the developing world. And we're the America that fights not for imperialism but for human rights and democracy.

You know, When the Germans brought down the Berlin Wall America's determination helped wield the sledgehammers. When that lone, young Chinese man stood in front of those tanks in Tiananmen Square America's hopes stood with him. And when

Nelson Mandela smiled in election victory after all those years in prison America celebrated, too.

We are still the lamp lighting the world especially for those who struggle. No matter in what labor camp they slave no matter in what injustice they're trapped -- they hear our call ... they see our light ... and they feel the pull of our freedom. They come here as I did because they believe. They believe in US.

They come because their hearts say to them, as mine did, "If only I can get to America." Someone once wrote -"There are those who say that freedom is nothing but a dream." They are right. It's the American dream.

No matter the nationality, no matter the religion, no matter the ethnic background, America brings out the best in people. And as Governor of the great state of California -- I see the best in Americans every day ... our police, our firefighters our nurses, doctors and teachers our parents.

And what about the extraordinary men and women who have volunteered to fight for the United States of America! I have such great respect for them and their heroic families.

Let me tell you about the sacrifice and commitment I've seen firsthand. In one of the military hospitals I visited, I met a young guy who was in bad shape. He'd lost a leg had a hole in his stomach ... his shoulder had been shot through.

I could tell there was no way he could ever return to combat. But when I asked him, "When do you think you'll get out of the hospital?" He said, "Sir, in three weeks." And do you know what he said to me then? He said he was going to get a new leg ... and get some therapy ... and then he was going back to Iraq to serve alongside his buddies! He grinned at me and said, "Arnold ... I'll be back!"

Ladies and gentlemen, America is back! back from the attack on our homeland- back from the attack on our economy back from the attack on our way of life. We're back because of the perseverance, character and leadership of the 43rd President of the United States George W. Bush.

My fellow Americans ...I want you to know that I believe with all my heart that America remains "the great idea" that inspires the world. It's a privilege to be born here. It's an honor to become a citizen here. It's a gift to raise your family here to vote here and to live here.

Our president George W. Bush has worked hard to protect and preserve the American dream for all of us. That's why I say ... send - him - back to Washington for four more years!

Thank you, America -- and God bless you all!

What is bullying?
Bullying is when someone keeps doing or saying things to have power over another person.
Some of the ways they bully other people are by: calling them names, saying or writing nasty things about them, leaving them out of activities, not talking to them, threatening them, making them feel uncomfortable or scared, taking or damaging their things, hitting or kicking them, or making them do things they don't want to do.
Have any of these things happened to you? Have you done any of these things to someone else? Really, bullying is wrong behaviour which makes the person being bullied feel afraid or uncomfortable.

Why do some people bully?
There are a lot of reasons why some people bully.
They may see it as a way of being popular, or making themselves look tough and in charge.
Some bullies do it to get attention or things, or to make other people afraid of them. Others might be jealous of the person they are bullying. They may be being bullied themselves.
Some bullies may not even understand how wrong their behaviour is and how it makes the person being bullied feel.

What is Workplace Bullying?
How do you know if you're being bullied? Bullying differs from harassment and assault in that the latter can result from a single incident or small number of incidents - which everybody recognises as harassment or assault - whereas bullying tends to be an accumulation of many small incidents over a long period of time. Each incident tends to be trivial, and on its own and out of context does not constitute an offence or grounds for disciplinary or grievance action. Workplace bullying includes:
· constant nit-picking, fault-finding and criticism of a trivial nature - the triviality, regularity and frequency betray bullying; often there is a grain of truth (but only a grain) in the criticism to fool you into believing the criticism has validity, which it does not; often, the criticism is based on distortion, misrepresentation or fabrication
· simultaneous with the criticism, a constant refusal to acknowledge you and your contributions and achievements or to recognise your existence and value
· constant attempts to undermine you and your position, status, worth, value and potential
· where you are in a group (eg at work), being singled out and treated differently; for instance, everyone else can get away with murder but the moment you put a foot wrong - however trivial - action is taken against you
· being isolated and separated from colleagues, excluded from what's going on, marginalised, overruled, ignored, sidelined, frozen out, sent to Coventry
· being belittled, demeaned and patronised, especially in front of others
· being humiliated, shouted at and threatened, often in front of others
· being overloaded with work, or having all your work taken away and replaced with either menial tasks (filing, photocopying, minute taking) or with no work at all
· finding that your work - and the credit for it - is stolen and plagiarised
· having your responsibility increased but your authority taken away
· having annual leave, sickness leave, and - especially - compassionate leave refused
· being denied training necessary for you to fulfil your duties
· having unrealistic goals set, which change as you approach them
· ditto deadlines which are changed at short notice - or no notice - and without you being informed until it's too late
· being subjected to disciplinary procedures with verbal or written warnings imposed for trivial or fabricated reasons and without proper investigation
· being coerced into leaving through no fault of your own, constructive dismissal, early or ill-health retirement, etc

Vincent si nu numai - de clody la: 12/01/2006 23:35:47
(la: Versuri din melodiile voastre preferate...)
Uneori ascult doar muzica pt ca nu are versuri sau sunt in vreo limba necunoscuta mie. Alteori ascult fascinata versurile chiar daca melodia in sine nu e cine stie ce.

Vincent - Don Mclean

Starry, starry night
paint your palette blue and grey
look out on a summer's day
with eyes that know the
darkness in my soul.
Shadows on the hills
sketch the trees and the daffodils
catch the breeze and the winter chills
in colors on the snowy linen land.
And now I understand what you tried to say to me
how you suffered for your sanity
how you tried to set them free.
They would not listen
they did not know how
perhaps they'll listen now.

For they could not love you
but still your love was true
and when no hope was left in sight on that starry
starry night.
You took your life
as lovers often do;
But I could have told you
Vincent
this world was never
meant for one
as beautiful as you.

Dance me to the end of love - Leonard Cohen

Dance me to the wedding now, dance me on and on
Dance me very tenderly and dance me very long
We're both of us beneath our love, we're both of us above
Dance me to the end of love

Take this walz - Leonard Cohen

And I'll dance with you in Vienna
I'll be wearing a river's disguise
The hyacinth wild on my shoulder,
My mouth on the dew of your thighs

Dance With my father - Luther Vandross

Back when I was a child
before life removed all the inocence
My father would lift me high
and dance with my mother and me and then
spend the hours till I fell asleep
then up the stairs he would carry me
and I knew for sure I was loved

If I could get another chance
another walk, another dance with him
I'd play a song that would never, ever end
how I'd love, love, love
to dance with my father again

(la: PALAVRE DE CAFENEA (Trancaneala- editie speciala))
Due to my recent reintroduction to bachelorhood and a four month absence of a social life, I have started looking towards Hollywood for new ways of meeting women and getting them to like me. I've realized that the most important thing to do is to not have a legitimate well-paying job. This is an absolute no-no and will immediately get you cast as the villian. Also, shaving and wearing nice clothing are both big turn offs, as are full beards. Death threats or murder attempts will greatly increase your chances, as will musical talents.

Here are the things that Hollywood has taught me about how to pick up chicks:

1. Steal cars. Nothing "drives" a woman into "high gear" faster than a man who can use automobile terms in his sexual innuendo.
2. Carry a giant sword, kill thousands of British soldiers, and threaten to kill the woman's husband, the heir to the throne of England.
3. Replace your weak human skeleton with a cybernetic skeleton, travel back in time, and try to kill the woman. When that fails, travel back in time again except this time, protect her son from mercury poisoning.
4. Go to prison for five years and when you get out, rob her boyfriend's casino of one hundred sixty million dollars.
5. Do not have a job. Instead, travel along a river and play guitar. Also, grow your hair into a pony tail and have constant stubble. Having previously been an undercover cop in a high school helps.
6. Kill a New York police captain, run to Italy, find a girl walking down the street, then go tell her father that you want to marry her or you will kill him. When you are through with her, blow her up with a car bomb.
7. Carry a guitar case full of guns and kill every man you see. Apparently, when you are finished, she will have no choice but to be with you.
8. Sneak your way onto a giant boat, make up some bullshit about being able to fly, and then freeze to death in the arctic ocean.
9. Grab a friend, sing a song to a stranger, then follow her into the bathroom and offer to have sex with her on the sink. It also helps if you have previously been a pimp, race car driver, or spy.

and the absolute best way of picking up chicks...

10. If the woman's father doesn't like you, bring him to an orbiting asteroid, set a nuclear weapon, then take off before he can make it back to the ship.

asta-i tare de tot! :))

Too Few Viruses/Too much security – Virus scanners give you a warm fuzzy feeling, they can also keep your computer from performing as fast as possible. Slowing down your performance keeps people’s expectations of you low. Without spy-ware and viruses slowing you down it’s a nuisance plus once you are logged in it’s not going to crash or be wiped out by viruses. Plus if you got too much work done you might get promoted or a raise. That would be a real pain trying to figure out how to spend the extra money.

- please capture a wide variety of shots, including different versions of the same type of shot. The images are for a brochure for the travel agency about the private train ride available, so all images should include the passengers. There are 100 passengers total but you don't need to photograph all of them, just focus on the people that look good, are not too old, are well dresses and photographic. Also to show how the Program Directors (there should be at least 3) help and guide the passengers through the day. No close-ups of the passengers unless you can tell that they're on the train or touring in Constanta
Photos need to be light and bright in quality. Try to avoid dark deep shades whenever possible. Sharp and deep depth of field images. They do not like blurry or soft looking photos. People in general should appear happy and pleasant.
Clients arriving at private railway station (Bucharest-Baneasa railway station)
Exterior shoots of the train - long and medium angles in relationship the station
Clients boarding the train - long and medium angles
PD's assisting clients throughout the day
Conductor or train personal helping the clients
Interiors of the train w/clients enjoying their ride, socializing, etc.
Interior - cafe car with pax and crew
Interior - PDs talking with pax (may have to set this up)
Arrival - Pax getting off train, exterior of train in station, etc.
In Constanta - general shots of pax taking city tour and scenics of the city, pax walking along the boardwalk and after or before their lunch walking on the black sea.
When returning look for the same type of shots as described above.

My dear,

Poate in final e vina mea....e 4 iulie....Independence day????You must be kidding!!!!
Poate cu 200 ani in urma????Cand insemna ceva????
In fine, stii CUM sarbatoresc aceasta zi....pt. cei cu capul pe umeri?
Beau pt. veteranii morti for NOTHING,in Vietnam,si pt. cei din Irak,pt. indienii mei,si negrii mei,si evreii mei si copii anilor pierduti in neant,o generatie de sacrificiu inutil....WE ARE THE CHILDREN OF THE GRAVE!!!!!

"This is the end,beautiful friend
This is the end,my only friend
The end of our elaborate plans
The end of everything that stands
The end...

No safety or surprise
The end
I'll never look into your eyes again....

Can you picture what will be
So limitless and free?
Desperately in need of some stranger's hand,
In a desperate land????

Lost in a Roman wilderness of pain
And all the children are insane
And all the children are insane
Waiting for the summer rain
There's danger on the edge of town
Ride the king's highway,
Weird scenes inside the gold mine
Ride the highway West,baby

Ride the snake
Ride the snake
To the lake
To the lake...

The ancient lake,baby
The snake is long
Seven miles
Ride the snake...

He's old
And his skin is cold
The West is the best
The West is the best,
Get here and we'll do the rest...

The blue bus is calling us
The blue bus is calling us
Driver,where are you taking us????

The killer awoke before dawn
He put his boots on
He took a face from the ancient gallery
And he walked on down the hall...

He went into the room where his sister lived
And then he paid a visit to his brother
And then he walked on down the hall
And he came to a door
And he looked inside,
Father?
Yes,son?
I want to kill you,
Mother,I want to fuck you....

Come on baby, take a chance with us
Come on baby, take a chance with us
Come on baby, take a chance with us...
And meet me at the end of the blue bus

This is the end,beautiful friend
This is the end,my only friend

It hurts to set you free
But you'll never follw me

The end of laughter and soft lies
The end of nights we tried to die

This is the end....

Intrebare:

Hi, I am an instructor at a Fine Art College in FL in the Photography & Digital Imaging dept. and parents want to know how their childern (students) will make a living after they graduate. I am researching that question and would appreciate any help you have. Are their websites that will sell your images to catalog companies or to stores like Walmart (example) and how would you go about pricing your work wholesale?

Raspuns:

Seeing as how this thread has just been "observed" but no one responded, let me offer you my observations. First of all, I am not a professional. I used to be, but not with Fine Art prints, with Weddings and Commercial work.

Now, I figure folks here fall into one of two camps...

1) They really aren't able to survive on selling their artistic images alone and do other things like commercial assignments, photojournalism assignments, and photo seminars to suppliment their income.

2) They really do make a bundle on selling their photos and don't relish revealing their hard earned marketing wisdom to competition in a very small marketplace.

Very few can survive on Fine Art photography. Very Few. Those that do are simultaneously artistic masters and superb business people.

You will probably hate me for saying this, but, anyone entering college for a Fine Arts degree with an attitude of getting wealthy is woefully misinformed. There isn't anything about that curriculum that teaches you how to make it in the real world. On the other hand, you could use the degree to become a truly good photographer, but you are still left on your own for capitalizing on that asset.

I would guess that's not what you want to tell the parents.
