daca OM accepta ajutorul meu PARTIAL, n-aveam nimic impotriva.
acestea fiind zise, sign out to chat.

Photographer Helmut Newton Killed in Crash

LOS ANGELES - Acclaimed fashion photographer Helmut Newton died Friday after his car sped out of control from the driveway of the famed Chateau Marmont hotel and crashed into a wall, police said. He was 83.

AP Photo

Newton, whose work appeared in magazines such as Playboy, Elle and Vogue, was best known for his stark, black-and-white nude photos of women.

Newton apparently lost control of his Cadillac while leaving the Hollywood hotel, said Officer April Harding, a police spokeswoman. It was unclear whether he became ill while driving.

People were on the sidewalk in front of the driveway, and the car brushed a photographer heading into the hotel before crashing into the wall.

Newton was taken by ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he died a short time later, Harding said.

Newton was a trailblazer in the fashion photography world, exploring power, gender roles and an icy sexuality in his pictures.

His trademark "Big Nudes" series featured larger-than-life, black-and-white images of women that portray them as dominating the camera rather than as subjects.

Among the beautiful and powerful people Newton has photographed were Paloma Picasso, Pierre Cardin, Naomi Campbell, Jean-Marie Le Pen and Claudia Schiffer.

While Newton also photographed clothed celebrities and nature scenes, he favored photographing women, usually while they wore little more than high heels.

"He was a giant," said Playboy founder Hugh Hefner. "He was a major talent that pushed the boundaries in terms of photography and influenced many, many other photographers in following generations."

The German-born photographer said in his 2002 autobiography that when he was 15, he told his father he wanted to be a photographer. The Berlin factory owner told him, "My boy, you'll end up in the gutter. All you think of is girls and photos."

Newton, who was Jewish, fled his homeland for Singapore in December 1938, a month after Nazi-led persecution programs began. He eventually settled in Australia and became a citizen, opening a small photography studio and changing his last name to Newton from Neustaedter.

He later took up residence in Monte Carlo, overlooking the Mediterranean — a frequent backdrop for his nude images.

In the prologue to his autobiography, he said his fascination with women dated back to when he was a toddler and recalled seeing his nurse "getting ready to go out, and she is half-naked" in front of a mirror. He described it as a defining moment in his life.

In October, he donated more than 1,000 pictures to a new gallery in Berlin, saying he was proud his work would now be on display in his hometown.

Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder called Newton's decision a "sign of reconciliation."

"You can chase a man out of his home but you can't rip his home out of his soul," Schroeder said in a letter read at the news conference announcing the donation.

Newton's coldly erotic imagery often alarmed feminists as well as those with tamer sensibilities.

A hosiery ad he shot, featured on a giant billboard in Times Square for a time, was banned from the side of New York City buses in 1998 because it was deemed to be too racy. It showed a rear-end view of a woman lying face-down, wearing only a pair of stockings. A side view of her bare breast also was visible.

Newton is survived by his wife, June, who works under the name Alice Springs. She was also a favorite subject for the photographer. In one 1973 series of photos, she was portrayed as Hitler wearing a cropped mustache, with model Jerry Hall posing as Eva Braun. The Newtons had no children.

===============================================

Love him or hate him, Defense Secretary Rumsfeld provided a powerful endorsement for the value of photographs during his Congressional testimony this week. When asked why earlier written warnings of prisoner abuse issued by the International Red Cross hadn't stirred the same response as the recent photos have, Rumsfeld replied, "It's the photographs that gives one the vivid realization of what actually took place . . . words don't do it."
An official with Amnesty International (whose name I didn't catch) was also recorded saying, "pictures are crucial for getting the public turned on to the story."

Remember these words the next time an editor asks you to sign away your copyright, offers you a token sum because, "it won't run very large" or, "we NEVER pay more than that," or tries to tell you that they can probably just
find something from stock to "fill the space." Human beings' ability to
draw pictures predates our ability to read and write by tens, even hundreds, of thousands of years. And even in this age of image overload and digital everything, photographs still remain one of the most powerful forms of communication.

Go out and make good images, and don't let anyone diminish their value.

Draga mea surioara,

The Great Spirit will show me the sign someday.

Be wise,my little sister.
Fi un brave warrior, stiu ca poti!Si NU crede ca esti singura niciodata!
The Great Spirit este mereu cu tine,in tine si in jurul tau,sa nu uiti niciodata ca NU esti deloc separata de EL!!!!!

May that the Great Spirit will be always with you my dear sister.
I love you.God bless you.

Love&peace,
Ozzy

__Premiere at the photokina: Leica Camera AG stages photo
exhibition »24 x 36« to mark 50th anniversary of
Leica rangefinder system

Leica Camera AG, Solms, is showing outstanding pictures of young Leica M photographers at the photokina in Cologne from 28th September to 3rd October 2004. The title of this exhibition, »24 x 36«, alludes to the central importance of the ideal format for 35mm camera film found by Oskar Barnack. The exhibition has been especially organized for this year's photokina, where it will be on view to an international public for the first time. The presentation at the photokina is the start of an exhibition tour. The next stop is the Leica Gallery in Frankfurt, where the photos will be shown for four weeks starting 9th October 2004. The idea behind the exhibition is to mark the three anniversaries of the Leica rangefinder system that the Solms company is celebrating this year: In 1879, 125 years ago, Oskar Barnack, the ingenious inventor of the Leica, was born. 90 years ago, in 1914, he created the basis for his revolutionary camera concept with the Ur-Leica. And in1954, fifty years ago, Ernst Leitz launched the first rangefinder camera, the LEICA M3, on the market.

__Naturblick magazine and Leica Camera AG raffle 100 signed

The author, the well-known Leica photographer Franz Bagyi, will be at the Leica booth to sign them. Anyone donating at least five euros to the nature conservation project “Büngernsche/Dingdener Heide“ between September 28th and October 3rd, 2004 will automatically take part in the prize draw. Entry cards are available at the Sport Optics section of the Leica booth.

__At the photokina: “Weitblick“ – the flying display of birds
of prey with free testing of Leica binoculars and scopes

The “Weitblick“ promotion offered for the first time at this year's photokina is an extra special event for nature lovers and birdwatchers. Every day from September 28th to October 3rd 2004, birdwatchers and nature lovers will have the opportunity to watch the flying display of the birds of prey of the game preserve Hellenthal from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visitors interested in watching the flying skills of a total of seven kinds of birds of prey (including eagles, vultures and various types of falcon) in more detail on a specially erected outside stage on the banks of the river Rhine can borrow Leica high-end binoculars and scopes free of charge. The flying display will be conducted under the expert control of a trained falconer at a distance of about 80 meters from the stage. The stage is on the Kennedy bank only a few steps from the main entrance to the Cologne fair. At the photokina weekend, the platform on the banks of the Rhine is open to the general public as well.

50 years of Leica M: Where’s the rangefinder system at

illustrated, how Leica managed to transfer the principle of

As fi curios sa stiu.

http://www.johnharrington.com/rates/
ori
http://lifes-work.biz/asmp112002art.pdf

You have NOT been hired until you tell them what your fees and expenses are and they agree in writing to pay that amount. What if you tell them you charge $2000 per photo after you have shot the job? Do you think they will pay you? A lot of photographers work this way. Someone hires them to do photography, never talks price and then they call around after the shoot and ask what they should charge. If it is more than the client expected to pay, then they either except what the client wanted to pay (in which case they get screwed and the client assumes the photographer was trying to screw them to start with) or they stick to their price and tick the client off, both of which lead the client to be hard nose and abusive with photographers in the future.

Sorry for the bluntness, but I think a lot of the problems we have
today are a result of some photographer's reluctance to deal with price
and terms and conditions in advance for fear of not getting the work.

So let's assume that you do not have the job. Gather all the
information you need from the client about the shoot and how the
photographs will be used. This includes: how many finished photos they
expect to end up with, do they want variations to choose from, how many
books will they be printing, how long do they want to distribute that
amount, will they just be distributed in guest's rooms or elsewhere,
etc, etc.

Once you have that information, put together an estimate in writing
that spells out the exact license that you are granting, the creative
fee and prep fees you will be charging along with all the expenses
involved in the shoot. Include your terms and conditions with the
estimate and ask the client to review the estimate and T&C and call you
if they have any questions or want to discuss anything. If they have no
question and approve they should sign the estimate and send it back to
you.

Try to partner with the client to find a way to give them what they
need( which is usually different from what they want) within or close
to their budget. This may mean cutting things out of the shoot, doing
fewer variations, fewer finished photographs used, smaller print run,
less usage, etc. A lot of times what they start out wanting in usage
and what they want to spend are far different from where it ends up.
The important thing is to work with them to try and find a way to make
it happen. If you express your desire to work with them and they
respond in kind, a lot of times you can work it out so everyone wins.
If not , they realize you may be more expensive than they can afford
now, but you are someone who is willing to try and find a way to make
it work and they may hire you in the future when they can afford you.

Be forewarned that there are clients who want it their way regardless
and if they can't get it , will blow you off and move on to the next
photographer until they find one who is desperate enough to work with
them.

Base your initial fee on a specific print run for one year's
distribution (assuming that's what they want). In the estimate under an
options section, quote them a percentage of the original fee (usually
50-75%) of the original fee for a second year and an additional
percentage for each additional year. If they want to license the second
year (or more) in advance lower the percentage some.

I suspect they just don't want to tell you. They have to know how many they are printing. How else can they place the order with the printer?
If they won't give you a print run, specify a print run in your
estimate or better yet ask them if you limit the print run to 100,000
will that be enough, and base the estimate on that. Chances are they'll
say, "heck no, we won't print more than 10,000", because they realize
the price will be higher if it's based on 100,000.

Edgar Allan Poe

The Raven
[First published in 1845]

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
`'Tis some visitor,' I muttered, `tapping at my chamber door -
Only this, and nothing more.'

Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December,
And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor.
Eagerly I wished the morrow; - vainly I had sought to borrow
From my books surcease of sorrow - sorrow for the lost Lenore -
For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels named Lenore -
Nameless here for evermore.

And the silken sad uncertain rustling of each purple curtain
Thrilled me - filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before;
So that now, to still the beating of my heart, I stood repeating
`'Tis some visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door -
Some late visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door; -
This it is, and nothing more,'

Presently my soul grew stronger; hesitating then no longer,
`Sir,' said I, `or Madam, truly your forgiveness I implore;
But the fact is I was napping, and so gently you came rapping,
And so faintly you came tapping, tapping at my chamber door,
That I scarce was sure I heard you' - here I opened wide the door; -
Darkness there, and nothing more.

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing,
Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before
But the silence was unbroken, and the darkness gave no token,
And the only word there spoken was the whispered word, `Lenore!'
This I whispered, and an echo murmured back the word, `Lenore!'
Merely this and nothing more.

Back into the chamber turning, all my soul within me burning,
Soon again I heard a tapping somewhat louder than before.
`Surely,' said I, `surely that is something at my window lattice;
Let me see then, what thereat is, and this mystery explore -
Let my heart be still a moment and this mystery explore; -
'Tis the wind and nothing more!'

Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many a flirt and flutter,
In there stepped a stately raven of the saintly days of yore.
Not the least obeisance made he; not a minute stopped or stayed he;
But, with mien of lord or lady, perched above my chamber door -
Perched upon a bust of Pallas just above my chamber door -
Perched, and sat, and nothing more.

Then this ebony bird beguiling my sad fancy into smiling,
By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore,
`Though thy crest be shorn and shaven, thou,' I said, `art sure no craven.
Ghastly grim and ancient raven wandering from the nightly shore -
Tell me what thy lordly name is on the Night's Plutonian shore!'
Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'

Much I marvelled this ungainly fowl to hear discourse so plainly,
Though its answer little meaning - little relevancy bore;
For we cannot help agreeing that no living human being
Ever yet was blessed with seeing bird above his chamber door -
Bird or beast above the sculptured bust above his chamber door,
With such name as `Nevermore.'

But the raven, sitting lonely on the placid bust, spoke only,
That one word, as if his soul in that one word he did outpour.
Nothing further then he uttered - not a feather then he fluttered -
Till I scarcely more than muttered `Other friends have flown before -
On the morrow will he leave me, as my hopes have flown before.'
Then the bird said, `Nevermore.'

Startled at the stillness broken by reply so aptly spoken,
`Doubtless,' said I, `what it utters is its only stock and store,
Caught from some unhappy master whom unmerciful disaster
Followed fast and followed faster till his songs one burden bore -
Till the dirges of his hope that melancholy burden bore
Of "Never-nevermore."'

But the raven still beguiling all my sad soul into smiling,
Straight I wheeled a cushioned seat in front of bird and bust and door;
Then, upon the velvet sinking, I betook myself to linking
Fancy unto fancy, thinking what this ominous bird of yore -
What this grim, ungainly, gaunt, and ominous bird of yore
Meant in croaking `Nevermore.'

This I sat engaged in guessing, but no syllable expressing
To the fowl whose fiery eyes now burned into my bosom's core;
This and more I sat divining, with my head at ease reclining
On the cushion's velvet violet lining that the lamp-light gloated o'er,
But whose velvet violet lining with the lamp-light gloating o'er,
She shall press, ah, nevermore!

Then, methought, the air grew denser, perfumed from an unseen censer
Swung by Seraphim whose foot-falls tinkled on the tufted floor.
`Wretch,' I cried, `thy God hath lent thee - by these angels he has sent thee
Respite - respite and nepenthe from thy memories of Lenore!
Quaff, oh quaff this kind nepenthe, and forget this lost Lenore!'
Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'

`Prophet!' said I, `thing of evil! - prophet still, if bird or devil! -
Whether tempter sent, or whether tempest tossed thee here ashore,
Desolate yet all undaunted, on this desert land enchanted -
On this home by horror haunted - tell me truly, I implore -
Is there - is there balm in Gilead? - tell me - tell me, I implore!'
Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'

`Prophet!' said I, `thing of evil! - prophet still, if bird or devil!
By that Heaven that bends above us - by that God we both adore -
Tell this soul with sorrow laden if, within the distant Aidenn,
It shall clasp a sainted maiden whom the angels named Lenore -
Clasp a rare and radiant maiden, whom the angels named Lenore?'
Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'

`Be that word our sign of parting, bird or fiend!' I shrieked upstarting -
`Get thee back into the tempest and the Night's Plutonian shore!
Leave no black plume as a token of that lie thy soul hath spoken!
Leave my loneliness unbroken! - quit the bust above my door!
Take thy beak from out my heart, and take thy form from off my door!'
Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'

And the raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming,
And the lamp-light o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted - nevermore!

1. E.E. Cummings - you said Is (XIII)

you said Is
there anything which
is dead or alive more beautiful
than my body,to have in your fingers
(trembling ever so little)?
Looking into
your eyes Nothing,i said,except the
air of spring smelling of never and forever.

....and through the lattice which moved as
if a hand is touched by a
hand(which
moved as though
fingers touch a girl's
breast,
lightly)
Do you believe in always, the wind
said to the rain
I am too busy with
my flowers to believe, the rain answered

2. E.E. Cummings - i carry your heart with me

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

3. Edgar Allan Poe - Alone

From childhood's hour I have not been
As others were; I have not seen
As others saw; I could not bring
My passions from a common spring.
From the same source I have not taken
My sorrow; I could not awaken
My heart to joy at the same tone;
And all I loved, I loved alone.
Then- in my childhood, in the dawn
Of a most stormy life- was drawn
From every depth of good and ill
The mystery which binds me still:
From the torrent, or the fountain,
From the red cliff of the mountain,
From the sun that round me rolled
In its autumn tint of gold,
From the lightning in the sky
As it passed me flying by,
From the thunder and the storm,
And the cloud that took the form
(When the rest of Heaven was blue)
Of a demon in my view

4. E.E. Cummings - I Am A Beggar Always

i am a beggar always
who begs in your mind

(slightly smiling, patient, unspeaking
with a sign on his
chest
BLIND)yes i

am this person of whom somehow
you are never wholly rid(and who

does not ask for more than
just enough dreams to
live on)
after all, kid

you might as well
toss him a few thoughts

a little love preferably,
anything which you can't
pass off on other people: for
instance a
plugged promise-

the he will maybe (hearing something
fall into his hat)go wandering
after it with fingers;till having

found
what was thrown away
himself
taptaptaps out of your brain, hopes, life
to(carefully turning a
corner)never bother you any more

5. e.e. cummings - the boys i mean are not refined

the boys i mean are not refined
they go with girls who buck and bite
they do not give a fuck for luck
they hump them thirteen times a night

one hangs a hat upon her tit
one carves a cross on her behind
they do not give a shit for wit
the boys i mean are not refined

they come with girls who bite and buck
who cannot read and cannot write
who laugh like they would fall apart
and masturbate with dynamite

the boys i mean are not refined
they cannot chat of that and this
they do not give a fart for art
they kill like you would take a piss

they speak whatever's on their mind
they do whatever's in their pants
the boys i mean are not refined
they shake the mountains when they dance
